They say you're not a true man if you haven't visited the Great Wall, and this is perhaps a major motivation for many to visit the Great Wall. While there are so many Great Walls, the "Herb Great Wall" in Huairou, Beijing, is particularly worth a visit. In fact, the Herbal Great Wall is just one of the four cultural Great Walls created by the Xiangshui Lake Great Wall Scenic Area. Other attractions include the "Plum Blossom Great Wall," the "Colorful Great Wall," and the "Red Great Wall," all of which draw on the cultural heritage of the Great Wall.
The Plum Blossom Great Wall, the 2.5-kilometer-long "Cool Valley Beyond the Great Wall," the thousand-acre fruit picking garden, and the patriotic Great Wall Red Pavilion—these are the four major tourist attractions of the Xiangshui Lake Scenic Area and are increasingly popular with residents. If you haven't found a good place to go during the May Day holiday, this is a must-see!
Xiangshui Lake Scenic Area boasts numerous peaks, abundant water resources, connected pools and waterfalls, and clear water. The area is also densely forested and rich in natural resources. With a vegetation coverage rate of 95% and a negative oxygen ion content of 9,300 per cm³, it is a National 3A-level tourist attraction, a Beijing Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture and Tourism Demonstration Base, a training base for the Beijing Agricultural Extension School, a social education platform, and a patriotic education center. The Xiangshui Lake Great Wall, built in 1404 during the second year of the Yongle reign of the Ming Dynasty, is renowned for its unique and treacherous terrain. The scenic area includes the "Tian She Jin Tang" cliff carvings, the majestic Moshikou Pass, the Great Wall's "Beijing Knot," the luxurious Jade Tower, and the towering Donkey's An Ridge. As a demonstration base for traditional Chinese medicine and cultural tourism in Beijing, the Xiangshui Lake Health Grand Canyon, stretching over 1,000 meters from the entrance to Longquan, features over 100 varieties of Chinese medicinal herbs, including honeysuckle, salvia miltiorrhiza, bupleurum, polygala tenuifolia, Panax notoginseng, and sedum. Each herb is presented on a sign. These herbs at the foot of the Great Wall, fed by spring water, are naturally of exceptional quality. The canyon boasts a diverse array of flowers throughout the year, including lilac, roses, peonies, Sichuan marigolds, chrysanthemums, and honeysuckle.
Xiangshui Lake Scenic Area is also well-equipped with facilities, including an elegant and unique antique villa, Beijing's most authentic and high-quality rainbow trout, and accommodations at the foot of the Great Wall. Isn't it quite charming? This May Day holiday, why not visit here?
