Rental Car Parking at the Port

I couldn't find any current posts on parking at the port. We will be coming in on the NCL Pride of America next March and I have rented a car for both days. Is there anywhere that we can park the car overnight near the port or will we have to take it back to the airport and park it there?

If you're arriving in Maui on the NCL Pride of America next March and need to park your rental car overnight near the port, there are a few options to consider. While the port itself doesn't offer extensive parking facilities for cruise passengers, there are nearby places where you can leave your car. Here's what you can do:

  • Maui Port Parking: The Kahului Harbor does not have designated overnight parking for rental cars, and parking can be limited. It’s generally recommended to use nearby commercial parking lots, but be aware that not all offer overnight parking. You may want to check with your rental car company to see if they have arrangements with nearby lots.
  • Airport Parking: Some travelers opt to return their rental car to the airport and park it in long-term parking. The airport offers long-term parking options that are safe and secure, though you will need to return to the port the following day. The Maui Airport is a short drive from the port, so this is a practical solution for many.
  • Nearby Hotels: Many hotels around the Kahului area may allow you to park overnight, especially if you book a night before or after your cruise. Contact local hotels like the Maui Seaside Hotel or the Courtyard by Marriott Maui, which may offer parking options for non-guests or for a small fee.

In general, if you don’t want to return the car to the airport, the hotel and long-term parking options are likely your best bet. Make sure to confirm with the rental agency, as some companies may allow special arrangements for overnight parking near the port area.
