Hong kong 5days itinerary

Have only travel once to hk 20+ years ago with tour. Manage to get the free cathay pacific round trip ticket and will be visiting Disneyland and day trip to macau.

No plans for the other 3days. Will be staying around causeway point. Looking for itinerary recommendation and place to eat/shop.

Is hotel in hk always so expensive? I did a search and minimum $100+ night for 3/4 star hotel..

Hong Kong is a vibrant city with a mix of modern skyscrapers, historic neighborhoods, and cultural attractions. With 5 days, including Disneyland and a day trip to Macau, you still have three days to explore key areas, enjoy local cuisine, and do some shopping. Staying around Causeway Bay is convenient for transport and shopping, though hotel prices tend to be higher in central areas.

Day 1: Arrival and Exploring Causeway Bay

  • Walk around Causeway Bay shopping district – Times Square, SOGO Department Store, and Fashion Walk.
  • Enjoy local street food and cafes – try egg waffles, dim sum, and Hong Kong-style milk tea.
  • Visit Victoria Park for a relaxing stroll and people-watching.

Day 2: Disneyland

  • Spend the full day at Hong Kong Disneyland, exploring different themed lands.
  • Stay for the evening parade and fireworks if possible.

Day 3: Macau Day Trip

  • Take a ferry from Hong Kong to Macau (about 1 hour).
  • Visit Ruins of St. Paul’s, Senado Square, and try Macau’s famous egg tarts.
  • Return to Hong Kong in the evening.

Day 4: Cultural and Sightseeing Day

  • Take the Peak Tram to Victoria Peak for panoramic views of Hong Kong Island.
  • Explore Central and Sheung Wan for historic streets, Man Mo Temple, and antique shops.
  • Take the Star Ferry across Victoria Harbour to Tsim Sha Tsui for evening skyline views.

Day 5: Markets and Neighborhood Exploration

  • Visit Mong Kok for Ladies Market, Sneakers Street, and Goldfish Market.
  • Explore Temple Street Night Market for street food, souvenirs, and nighttime entertainment.
  • If time allows, explore Stanley Market and the nearby beach for a more relaxed afternoon.

Dining Recommendations

  • Dim sum: Tim Ho Wan (multiple locations, budget-friendly)
  • Seafood: Lei Yue Mun for fresh seafood dishes
  • Street food: Mong Kok and Causeway Bay streets for egg waffles, curry fish balls, and pineapple buns
  • Cafes: Tai Cheong Bakery for egg tarts, or local cha chaan tengs for Hong Kong-style milk tea and snacks

  • Mong Kok: Street markets and bargain shopping
  • Tsim Sha Tsui: Luxury brands and shopping malls
  • Stanley Market: Souvenirs, artwork, and casual wear

Hotel Costs

Hotels in Hong Kong are generally expensive due to limited space and high demand. 3–4 star hotels often start at $100+ per night, especially in central areas. Alternatives include budget hotels, guesthouses, or serviced apartments slightly outside the main districts, which can reduce costs.
