Stay with Dogs
I am hoping to finally make it to disneyland next summer. I am most likely going to end up getting an airbnb due to having my four dogs with me. However a I am wondering if there are any hotels in the area that might let dogs stay and be left during the day. Last year i did month long road trip and averaged 2-3 times the cost of a hotel due to doing an airbnb for my dogs. So I am hoping to spend a little less considering it will be over $1,000 just for my dogs to fly. I do not have a set budget in mind because I may have family join me which would help split the costs. But the lower the better as long as it is in a safe area. I would also be renting a car because i would only be spending a day or two at disneyland and around a week in the area. Tia
Finding accommodations near Disneyland that accept multiple dogs and allow them to be left unattended during the day can be challenging, but there are options beyond Airbnb that may help reduce costs while keeping your pets safe and comfortable.
Hotel Options in Anaheim for Dogs:
- Disneyland Resort Hotels: Most of the official Disney hotels allow dogs, but generally only one or two per room and they usually cannot be left alone for long periods. They also tend to be quite expensive.
- Good Neighbor Hotels: Some of the nearby “Disney Good Neighbor” hotels are pet-friendly and may allow multiple dogs with advance notice. Examples include the Best Western Plus Park Place Inn and Howard Johnson by Wyndham Anaheim. Policies vary, so confirm in advance about leaving dogs alone in the room.
- Extended Stay and Pet-Friendly Chains: Extended Stay America (Anaheim Resort area) and some La Quinta locations accept pets and may have more flexible rules for leaving dogs in the room during the day. They usually charge a pet fee per night, but can be cheaper than Airbnb for multiple nights.
Tips for Staying with Multiple Dogs:
- Always call ahead to verify the hotel's pet policy, including the maximum number of dogs, weight limits, and whether dogs can be left alone.
- Book a ground floor room if possible to make bathroom breaks easier and reduce stress for the dogs.
- Consider bringing crates or playpens to safely contain dogs if the hotel allows leaving them unattended.
- Check if nearby dog daycares or pet-sitting services can assist during your Disneyland days to reduce stress on your pets.
Additional Considerations:
- Using a rental car gives flexibility for driving to pet-friendly hotels a little farther from Disneyland, which may offer lower rates and better pet accommodations.
- Even with hotels, budget for pet fees and potential cleaning deposits, especially for four dogs, which can add up quickly.
- Keep safety in mind: Anaheim is generally safe near Disneyland and surrounding hotel areas, but always secure your dogs when leaving the room.
In summary, while Airbnb is convenient for multiple dogs, researching extended stay hotels and Good Neighbor Disney hotels may save money while keeping your dogs accommodated and safe. Combining hotel stays with pet-sitting or daycare options for the days you visit Disneyland could be a practical approach.
