Transportation options to SNA with young child

Are there any reasonably priced ways of getting from a hotel on South Harbor Blvd to SNA with a young child (6) whom I assume needs a car seat by law to travel in a car?

Getting to Anaheim from LAX we have paid for black Crystal to drive us and it’s worth it after a long international flight to get to Disneyland but seeing as SNA is a close airport in Anaheim, I was hoping for a cheaper option?

Thanks 🙏

Traveling from a hotel on South Harbor Blvd in Anaheim to John Wayne Airport (SNA) with a young child can be managed affordably if you know your options, while still ensuring safety requirements such as a car seat are met. Here’s a detailed overview.

Ride-Share Options

  • Uber or Lyft: Both services operate in Anaheim and can take you directly to SNA. You can request a car with a child seat through Uber Car Seat (availability is limited, so check in advance). Standard rides are cheaper than a private black car service, typically around $15–$25 depending on traffic.
  • UberXL or Lyft XL: If you have luggage or want extra room, these larger vehicles can accommodate a car seat brought by you.

Shuttle Services

  • Hotel Airport Shuttle: Some Anaheim hotels provide shared shuttle services to SNA. Prices are usually $10–$15 per adult; children may ride for free or at a reduced rate. Confirm if they can provide or allow a car seat for your 6-year-old.
  • Shared Airport Shuttles: Companies like SuperShuttle or Karmel Shuttle operate routes between Disneyland-area hotels and SNA. They are generally affordable ($15–$20 per person) but may require coordination for the car seat.

Public Transit (Less Convenient)

  • There is a bus from the Disneyland Resort area to SNA (OCTA route 43 connects nearby stops), but it requires transfers and may be cumbersome with luggage and a young child.
  • If you choose public transit, bring a portable car seat for safety or plan on holding your child securely, though this does not meet California law for children under 8 in a vehicle.

Tips for Traveling with a Child

  • California law requires children under 8 to use a booster or car seat appropriate for their age, height, and weight. Confirm the ride-share or shuttle service provides this or bring your own portable option.
  • Allow extra time to coordinate pick-up and drop-off, especially with a shared shuttle or ride-share with a car seat.
  • If convenience and minimal stress are priorities, a standard Uber/Lyft with a booster seat you bring may balance cost and ease effectively.

In summary, the cheapest reliable options are either a hotel-arranged shuttle or a standard Uber/Lyft with a car seat, costing significantly less than private black car services while still keeping your child safe and complying with California laws.
