Where to purchase alcohol

Hello

We are staying at Waikiki Beach rental Condos and want to be able to mix our own cocktails. Is there anybody who has stayed in the area recently that can tell me where I could purchase some Vodka and Tequila close by and the price please?

Thank you

Leanne

Hi Leanne,

If you're staying near Waikiki Beach, there are several places where you can purchase alcohol, including vodka and tequila, to mix your own cocktails. Here are a few options that are close by:

  • ABC Stores: ABC Stores are a convenient and popular option all over Waikiki. They carry a variety of alcoholic beverages, including vodka and tequila. While the selection may not be as extensive as a larger liquor store, you'll find a decent range of well-known brands. Prices are usually a little higher due to the convenience factor, but they are definitely convenient for grabbing spirits, mixers, and snacks. Expect vodka to start at around $15–$20 for a mid-tier bottle (750ml), and tequila around the same price range.
  • Food Pantry: Located at 234 Beachwalk, Food Pantry is a full-service grocery store and a great place to buy alcohol. They have a better selection of liquors compared to ABC Stores, and their prices are slightly more competitive. You should be able to find premium brands of vodka and tequila here, with prices ranging from $18–$40 for a decent bottle, depending on the brand and type.
  • Tamura's Fine Wine & Liquors: If you're looking for a wider selection and better pricing, Tamura's, located at 888 Kapahulu Ave, is a well-known liquor store in Honolulu. It offers a larger selection of spirits, including premium and craft liquors. Prices here can vary, but you’ll generally find good deals on vodka and tequila ranging from $15–$30 for a standard 750ml bottle, depending on the brand.
  • Costco (if you have access to a car): For the best deals, Costco (on Keeaumoku Street) offers bulk pricing for many alcohol brands, including vodka and tequila. If you’re a member, this is an excellent option for purchasing larger quantities at a more affordable price. Vodka and tequila here could range from $14 for the lower-end options to $30–$50 for premium options.

Just a heads up, Hawaii has a 10% general excise tax on most items, including alcohol, so keep that in mind when budgeting. Additionally, some stores may have a minimum age for purchasing alcohol (usually 21), so don't forget to bring your ID with you.

Enjoy your cocktails and your stay in Waikiki!
