This is a tip from local. Taking Golden Gate Transit Bus to the Bridge or Sausalito is the quickest option for public transportation, and affordable compare to taxi. From Van Ness Ave, Mission Street, Downtown, or Fisherman's Wharf. The fare is $5.25 cash within the city limit, $8.25 cross the bridge to Sausalito, paying with clipper entitle 20% discount. Youth, ADA, and Senior pay half of that.

IMPORTANT: Muni pass and transfer don't work on GGT! Signal the driver when you see your bus coming; if you pay with clipper, tag off when getting off!

For Vista Point, Battery Spencer and Marin headland, take route 130, (or any GGT North bound buses in the city, pay to zone 2, and ask for a transfer, transfer to 130 at Palace of Fine Arts stop or toll Plaza, the transfer is good for 3 hours!) getting off at Alexander Ave, the first stop after the bridge; from there, a short hike to Battery Spencer, 35 min. hike to headland after that. Late afternoon is the best for those since the sun will be at the west side of the bridge so the bridge appears in bright orange with city skyline in background, just like you see in postcards. Return stop is on other side of the road but further down from the one you getting off at, it's bunker road stop. The same 130 bus will take you to Sausalito too, sausalito is a small town, the trip is really quick, instead riding all the way to downtown, getting off at East Road and start walking to the same direction so you don't miss the view. It's just 22min. walk to downtown Sausalito from that. 130 is the only bus make stop at north end of the bridge. Have a nice trip.
