Transportation

I will be staying at the Parc 55 Hilton in April. Wanting to take several sightseeing tours while I’m there. Pick up points state fisherman’s wharf or Union Square. Is that walkable or what transportation is best to get there? I do not know if there is a hotel pick up or not. The hotel is on55 Cyril Magnin St. Isbthat close to the cable cars?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

The Parc 55 Hilton, located at 55 Cyril Magnin Street in downtown San Francisco, is in a very central location near Union Square, which is ideal for sightseeing and accessing various tour pickup points. You have several transportation options depending on the destination and your preference for convenience versus walking.

Walking to Union Square and Cable Cars:

The hotel is just a short walk to Union Square—approximately 2–5 minutes depending on the exact spot. This means you can easily reach most sightseeing tour pickup points in Union Square on foot. The Powell Street cable car lines (Powell-Hyde and Powell-Mason) are also about a 5–7 minute walk from the hotel, giving you easy access to Fisherman’s Wharf and other areas without needing a vehicle.

Walking to Fisherman’s Wharf:

Fisherman’s Wharf is farther away—roughly 1.5–2 miles north of Union Square. While it’s technically walkable (around 30–40 minutes), it may be a bit long if you prefer to conserve energy or have limited time. Fortunately, several transit options are available.

  • Cable Car: Take the Powell-Hyde or Powell-Mason lines from near Union Square to reach Fisherman’s Wharf in about 15–20 minutes. This is also a scenic and classic San Francisco experience.
  • San Francisco Muni Bus: Several buses run from downtown to Fisherman’s Wharf, including the 30, 47, and 49 lines. Travel time is typically 15–20 minutes depending on traffic.
  • Rideshare or Taxi: If you prefer convenience, Uber or Lyft rides are plentiful and will take about 10–15 minutes to reach the Wharf from Union Square.
  • Hop-On Hop-Off Tour Buses: Many sightseeing tour companies offer downtown pickup and take you directly to Fisherman’s Wharf, Alcatraz, and other attractions. Check in advance to see if the tour includes a hotel pickup; if not, Union Square is the closest main pickup point.

Tips for Sightseeing:

  • Since your hotel is in a central location, you can plan to walk to Union Square tour pickups and use cable cars or buses for farther destinations like the Wharf.
  • If you’re carrying luggage or traveling with limited mobility, rideshare or taxi services are convenient alternatives.
  • Check each tour company’s pickup policies; many downtown tours start from Union Square and some do not offer hotel-specific pickups, so you will likely walk a few minutes anyway.
  • Evening or early morning walks to Union Square are safe and convenient, with plenty of lighting and activity in the area.

In summary, your hotel is very well-located for walking to Union Square and nearby cable car lines. Fisherman’s Wharf is a short cable car or bus ride away, making it easy to access sightseeing tours without needing a car.
