I and my family are travelling from Delhi to HK for 5 nights starting 20 Nov. First 2 nights in Macau and next 3 in HK.
I read that we do not need to go through immigration and HK at arrival and can directly go to Macau via Skypier. Is it a balid option for all nationals?
Also, the ferry service seems to be there every 30 min to 1 hour every day. Do I need to reserve ferry ticket in advance or I can get it at the airport itself?
Also, while coming back from Macau to HK, I believe we will have to go through HK immigration. Hope it will not be a problem that we are arriving from Macau and not India. Would PAR, passport, flight tickets be sufficient to enter HK?
Using Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) to directly transfer to Macau via Skypier is possible, but there are some important conditions and restrictions you should be aware of:
Firstly, the air-to-sea transfer via Skypier allows passengers arriving at HKIA to take ferries to Macau without going through Hong Kong immigration. However, this service is primarily for passengers who are connecting to an international flight departing from HKIA within 24 hours. It is not automatically available for all nationals; eligibility depends on your onward flight booking and whether your airline is part of the transfer agreement with Skypier.
Regarding ferry tickets, the ferry service from Skypier to Macau generally runs every 30–60 minutes. While tickets are often available on the spot, it is recommended to book in advance, especially during peak travel periods like November, to ensure availability and preferred departure time.
On your return from Macau to Hong Kong, you will indeed have to clear Hong Kong immigration, as you are entering Hong Kong territory. Standard entry requirements apply:
In summary, the Skypier transfer is convenient but limited to eligible connecting passengers, so check with your airline. Ferry tickets can be purchased at the pier, but advance booking is safer. Returning from Macau, standard Hong Kong immigration procedures apply, and having your passport and travel documentation will suffice.
