Chilly weekend, bring a coat?

Well, unfortunately it looks a little chilly this coming weekend. We have a ghost/pub crawl Saturday night & Sunday we visit Bonaventure. Not exactly sure what I need as to a jacket/sweater for walking around the HD & Riverfront. I want to leave my winter coat behind.

It sounds like you're going to have an exciting weekend in Savannah, but it’s true that the weather can be a bit unpredictable, especially during the cooler months. Given that you have both a ghost/pub crawl and a visit to Bonaventure planned, you’ll likely be doing a lot of walking outdoors, so it’s important to dress comfortably while staying warm enough for those cooler evenings.

With temperatures expected to be chilly, especially in the evening, here are some tips on what to wear:

  • Layering: A light to medium weight jacket or sweater should be perfect for walking around the Historic District and Riverfront during the day. You can easily layer a sweater with a light coat, which will be enough to keep you warm without feeling too bulky. You may also want to bring a scarf or hat for extra warmth in the evening, especially if you're out during the ghost/pub crawl, which will likely be cooler at night.
  • Light jacket or fleece: A light, insulated jacket or fleece should be adequate for most of your walking around the city. Something that’s wind-resistant can be especially helpful for the evening, particularly if you’re near the water on the Riverfront where it can get breezy. This will also allow you to stay comfortable while avoiding the bulk of a winter coat.
  • Consider a stylish cardigan or long-sleeve top: If you prefer to travel light and don’t want to carry a heavy jacket, a thick cardigan or long-sleeve sweater can keep you cozy without the weight. Pair it with a scarf for added warmth.

For your ghost/pub crawl, it’s always a good idea to dress warmly, as the temperature can drop significantly at night. Depending on how much time you’ll spend outdoors versus inside pubs, you might want to bring a jacket that’s easy to carry if you’re not wearing it the whole time.

Overall, you should be fine without your heavy winter coat. Just bring a versatile, medium-weight jacket or sweater that you can layer, and make sure to check the forecast closer to your trip for any sudden changes in weather. Enjoy your weekend in Savannah!
