Luggage storage at Beijing Airport
Hi
Have 7 days in Beijing, travelling solo and 2 nights in 3 different places.
Will fly on to Mongolia.
I want to leave my trekking gear, tent, etc at the airport to allow me to get around more easily in Beijing - is there a left luggage place? Can I leave for a week? Any recent experience with prices?
Any info gratefully accepted.
Thanks all
Yes, Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) and Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX) both offer left luggage and baggage storage services that travelers can use for short-term or longer-term storage.
Here are the details for leaving your trekking gear, tent, and other luggage:
- Location: Storage counters are available in each terminal, usually in the Arrivals and Departures halls. For Capital Airport, look for signs marked "Left Luggage" or ask airport staff for guidance.
- Duration: Most airport storage facilities allow luggage to be stored for several days to a week. Make sure to confirm the maximum period when you drop off your items. For a week, this is typically acceptable.
- Pricing: Charges are usually based on size and duration. As of recent reports:
- Small bag: around 20–30 RMB per day
- Medium suitcase: around 30–50 RMB per day
- Large or oversized luggage: 50–100 RMB per day
- Payment: Cash in RMB or credit/debit cards are generally accepted. Some counters may accept Alipay or WeChat Pay.
- Procedure: You will need to show your passport and flight information when leaving your luggage. You will receive a claim ticket that must be presented to retrieve your items.
Additional tips:
- Arrive a few minutes earlier than usual when dropping off or picking up luggage, as queues can form, especially at peak travel times.
- Keep valuables and fragile items with you, as the storage service is not responsible for high-value items.
- Consider checking whether your airline or hotel offers luggage storage as an alternative, sometimes at a lower cost or more convenience.
Overall, leaving your trekking gear and tent at the airport for a week is feasible, and this can make your travel around Beijing much more comfortable without heavy bags.
