Family Vacation in July 2025

My family is looking to vacation in Estes Park next summer. We have four families, three with kids, who would like to have separate living spaces, but be close together of course, so we will need cabins or condos or other suggestions. The kids range in age of 8--17, girls and boys, and so we would need access to some sort of activities--fishing, canoeing, hiking, walking paths, or other outdoor things. The adults would also enjoy something to do, too. We plan to stay two or three nights--possibly cook most of our meals, but we would like to have access to restaurants, too., so maybe not too far from civilization. We would prefer nothing too rustic, but want the cabin feel. We know accommodations will fill up quickly, so anything we can do to get plans going will be great. Thank you in advance for any and all recommendations.

Estes Park is a fantastic choice for a family vacation, especially in July when the weather is perfect for outdoor activities. Since you have multiple families and want separate living spaces while staying close together, there are several options that combine comfort, convenience, and access to nature.

For accommodations, consider these options:

  • Cabin or Condo Rentals: Estes Park has many rental properties that cater to families and groups. Look for multi-cabin resorts or private rental properties that allow booking several units on the same property or nearby. Examples include:
    • Estes Park Condos at Village Pointe – offers several units close together with kitchen facilities.
    • Rustic Cottages or Cabin Resorts such as Estes Park Resort or The Ridgeline Cabins – provide the “cabin feel” with modern amenities and multiple units.
    • VRBO or Airbnb properties – filtering for multiple cabins or large homes can yield properties where all families can stay within walking distance.
  • Activities Nearby: Estes Park and the surrounding Rocky Mountain National Park offer plenty of options for kids and adults alike:
    • Hiking and walking trails – plenty of beginner to moderate trails suitable for kids and teens.
    • Fishing – many cabins are near lakes or rivers, and guided fishing trips are available.
    • Canoeing or kayaking – options on Lake Estes for both kids and adults.
    • Wildlife viewing – great opportunity to spot elk, deer, and other mountain wildlife.
  • Nearby Dining: Even if you plan to cook, it’s good to have restaurants nearby for convenience:
    • Downtown Estes Park offers casual and family-friendly restaurants within 5–10 minutes drive from most cabin areas.
    • Some cabin resorts have on-site dining or easy access to small grocery stores for stocking up on supplies.

Additional tips for planning:

  • Book as early as possible – Estes Park fills up quickly, especially in July, so securing multiple cabins or condos now is recommended.
  • Check amenities – make sure each unit has a functional kitchen, enough bedrooms, and common spaces for families to gather.
  • Consider proximity to RMNP entrances – staying closer to the park allows for easy day trips for hiking and sightseeing.
  • Look for kid-friendly amenities – some cabin resorts offer game rooms, swimming, or organized activities which can be a bonus for your group.

In summary, for your July trip with multiple families, the best approach is to reserve several cabins or condos within the same resort or neighborhood near downtown Estes Park. This setup provides both privacy and proximity for group activities, access to outdoor adventures, and convenient dining options. Starting your search early and focusing on properties that offer kitchens and kid-friendly amenities will ensure a smooth and enjoyable vacation for everyone.
