Visting during Thanksgiving Break

I’ve been looking for options for a Thanksgiving meal while we are in town. Family of 4, 2 adults and 2 kids (10 and 13). I’ve looked over all the options at Big Cedar Lodge and Chateau on the Lake. It also seems that Keeter Center is booked or not open that day as when I try for a reservation the response is that reservations for the size of the party selected are not available online. (I can try to call but in either case I’d really like to visit Keeter Center at some point even if just for walk-in lunch one day). Our Thanksgiving meal doesn’t have to be dinner or brunch, we’re happy with either and truly are flexible on time.

Are there any other places I should be looking into? I read that SDC has Thanksgiving Buffets prior to their 4pm opening but I’m not finding anything official on the SDC website to get info on price, reservations, etc. I also found that Level 2 Steakhouse will have something but the website still says info coming soon. I expect prices to be higher than normal being on travel and in restaurants, but I’m having a hard time justifying paying the adult price for my 10 yr old bringing our meal near $400. I think we’d enjoy visiting SDC while in town but also curious if it’s better to visit on one of the other days we are in town vs on Thanksgiving day and with their buffet (if it really exists). Thank you in advance!

Visiting Branson during Thanksgiving can be a bit challenging for reservations, but there are still several options for enjoying a festive meal. Since you’re flexible with timing and open to lunch, brunch, or dinner, you have some leeway to explore alternatives beyond Big Cedar Lodge, Chateau on the Lake, and Keeter Center.

Thanksgiving Meal Options:

  • Level 2 Steakhouse: This restaurant typically offers a Thanksgiving menu, though official pricing and reservation info may not yet be posted. Calling directly can confirm availability, pricing, and whether they accommodate children at a reduced rate. Level 2 Steakhouse is a good option if you’re looking for a classic, higher-end Thanksgiving dinner.
  • Silver Dollar City (SDC) Buffet: While official information is limited online, in past years SDC has offered pre-opening Thanksgiving buffets. These buffets can be expensive, and children are often charged near adult prices, but they offer the convenience of combining a park visit with a meal. If your goal is to enjoy SDC while in town, it might be better to visit on a non-Thanksgiving day to avoid crowds and the high buffet cost.
  • Local Hotels and Resorts: Several Branson hotels and resorts offer Thanksgiving meals or buffets even if the main lodges are booked. Consider looking into:
  • Hilton Branson Convention Center – often hosts special holiday meals.
  • Radisson Hotel Branson – may offer Thanksgiving specials or family-friendly meals.
  • Branson Landing area restaurants – some local eateries provide set Thanksgiving menus; calling ahead is recommended.

Keeter Center Visit: If your primary interest is experiencing Keeter Center, a visit outside of Thanksgiving day may be easier. Their lunch service is sometimes available to walk-ins, and planning for a different day ensures you don’t have to navigate reservation limitations and holiday crowds.

Recommendations:

  • Call Level 2 Steakhouse and SDC directly to confirm availability, pricing, and children’s rates. This avoids surprises with high adult charges for your 10-year-old.
  • If the buffet pricing at SDC seems prohibitive, plan your SDC visit on a non-holiday day to enjoy the park fully without paying premium prices.
  • Consider making your Thanksgiving meal at a local hotel or smaller Branson restaurant for a more affordable and manageable experience with family-friendly seating.
  • Keep flexibility in timing—lunchtime may be less crowded than dinner, and some restaurants allow staggered seating on Thanksgiving.

In summary, while traditional locations like Keeter Center may be fully booked or limited on Thanksgiving, calling ahead and exploring local hotels or restaurants can provide a satisfying alternative. Balancing a special meal with a visit to SDC or other attractions may make your trip both festive and cost-effective.
