Convenient, safe area with possible larger hotel rooms
Are there any hotels that offer larger rooms like maybe a 2 bedroom? I’m looking at DuPont Circle area. I keep reading good things about that area but I’m not sold on it yet. Price isn’t as important as location and safety as we don’t travel often so we are willing to pay a little more.
DuPont Circle is widely regarded as one of Washington DC’s most desirable neighborhoods for visitors. It is centrally located, relatively quiet, and known for safety, tree-lined streets, historic architecture, and easy access to restaurants, shops, and cultural sites. The area is also well-connected to the Metro system, making it convenient to explore the city without a car.
If you are specifically looking for hotels with larger rooms or suites—such as one-bedroom or two-bedroom options—there are several good choices in and near DuPont Circle. Many of these cater to travelers who prioritize space, comfort, and amenities over budget.
- Residence Inn Washington, DC/Dupont Circle – This hotel offers studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom suites with kitchenettes. Rooms are spacious and modern, ideal for families or groups wanting extra space. The location is safe and within walking distance to restaurants and the circle.
- Kimpton Hotel Palomar Washington DC – Boutique hotel with some suite options that include separate living areas. Stylish, centrally located, and known for good service. Safe and lively neighborhood with easy access to dining and nightlife.
- The Dupont Circle Hotel – Offers larger rooms and suites with sitting areas and sometimes separate bedrooms. It’s a full-service hotel with upscale amenities, excellent for travelers wanting more comfort and space.
- AKA White House / AKA DC – Serviced apartments with one- and two-bedroom units. Provides full kitchens, living areas, and hotel-like amenities. Very convenient for longer stays or travelers wanting a home-like experience while still in a central and safe area.
- Kimpton Carlyle Hotel – Another boutique option with suites, including multi-room configurations. Located just steps from Dupont Circle, in a neighborhood known for safety and elegance.
Other considerations:
- DuPont Circle is generally very walkable and has a strong police presence, making it one of the safest neighborhoods for visitors in DC.
- Hotels in this area can be on the pricier side due to location and space, but you get a combination of safety, convenience, and charming neighborhood ambiance.
- Booking directly with hotels or via trusted travel platforms is recommended, especially if you want a two-bedroom suite, as these are limited and tend to fill quickly.
Overall, if space, safety, and location are your main priorities, DuPont Circle is an excellent choice. Hotels like Residence Inn or AKA provide larger, suite-style accommodations, while boutique options offer style and comfort with slightly less space but excellent amenities and neighborhood charm.
