Staybridge Suites Inner Harbor vs Marriott Courtyard

We have free night awards for both IHG and Marriott and are deciding between the Staybridge Suites Inner Harbor and the Marriott Courtyard Downtown for a 2-night stay in May. With just 1.5 days in the city, we plan to visit the Inner Harbor, Fells Point, Fort McHenry, and Lexington Market. While the Staybridge Suites has slightly better reviews, I'm wondering if one hotel’s location is more convenient for our plans.

Both the Staybridge Suites Inner Harbor (IHG) and the Marriott Courtyard Downtown offer solid accommodations in Baltimore, but for a short 2-night visit with limited time to explore, location relative to the sights you plan to visit may be the key factor.

Here’s a breakdown of both options:

  • Staybridge Suites Inner Harbor: Located right in the Inner Harbor area, this hotel is within easy walking distance to many popular attractions, including the National Aquarium, Harborplace shops, and waterfront restaurants. Reviews indicate a slightly more modern feel, and suites include kitchenettes, which can be convenient if you want to have snacks or light meals in your room.
  • Marriott Courtyard Downtown: Situated slightly further inland, closer to Baltimore’s financial district. It’s a comfortable hotel with good service, but it is less central to the Inner Harbor waterfront. Walking to the main attractions may take a bit longer, although taxis or rideshare can quickly bridge the distance.

Considering your planned itinerary:

  • Inner Harbor: Both hotels are accessible, but Staybridge Suites is closer and makes multiple quick stops easier.
  • Fells Point: About a 10–15 minute walk from Staybridge Suites or a short ride from Marriott Courtyard Downtown.
  • Fort McHenry: About a 15–20 minute drive from either hotel; location won’t make much difference here.
  • Lexington Market: Roughly a 10–15 minute walk from either location.

Additional considerations:

  • Staybridge Suites may offer more space and amenities like a kitchenette, which can be handy for a family or longer stays.
  • Marriott Courtyard may provide slightly easier access to downtown office areas or if you want a more traditional hotel experience.
  • If walking and quick access to the Inner Harbor attractions is a priority for a short stay, Staybridge Suites has a clear edge.

In summary, for a 1.5-day sightseeing trip focusing on Inner Harbor, Fells Point, Fort McHenry, and Lexington Market, the Staybridge Suites Inner Harbor is likely the more convenient choice, both for location and amenities.
