Two Days in Sedona - Good Places to Walk Around?

Coming in two weeks for two days to Sedona.

Obviously hiking trails are a big thing there it seems. But what about in the evenings, are there any good places to walk around, or is it spread out and mostly drivable?

Any suggestions, of a 'downtownish' place (or is it uptown ?) to just walk around, grab a bite, a drink, window shop, etc?

For a short two-day visit to Sedona, evenings can be quite enjoyable if you want to stroll around without going on a full hike. While many of the natural attractions require driving to trailheads, Sedona does have areas where you can walk around, grab a bite, shop, or enjoy a drink.

The main hub for this is typically called Uptown Sedona. Despite the name, it functions like the “downtown” area and is more concentrated than the rest of Sedona, making it convenient for evening walks. The streets are pedestrian-friendly, with shops, galleries, restaurants, and cafes lined up along SR 89A.

  • Uptown Sedona: This is the go-to area for walking around. You can browse art galleries, local boutiques, souvenir shops, and stop at one of the many restaurants or coffee shops. There are also a few bars for a casual evening drink.
  • Gallery Walks: Many art galleries are open late or have weekend events. Even if you just window shop, the area has a pleasant vibe with the red rocks illuminated in the evening light.
  • Coffee and Dessert Spots: Places like The Coffee Pot and Sedona Memories Bakery & Cafe are good for a casual walk-and-stop experience. Ice cream, pastries, or coffee make a relaxing stroll even more enjoyable.
  • Evening Scenic Spots: While not in walking distance of Uptown, a quick drive (5–10 minutes) can get you to Airport Mesa or Chapel of the Holy Cross for sunset views. These can be combined with evening dining back in Uptown.

For your two days, a suggested evening plan might be:

  • Arrive, settle in, and explore Uptown Sedona with a casual dinner.
  • Stroll along SR 89A, browse shops and galleries.
  • If timing allows, drive a short distance to a viewpoint for sunset and then return to Uptown for dessert or a drink.

Overall, Sedona is drivable between major sites, but Uptown offers a compact, walkable area to enjoy the evening without needing a car.
