opinions on staying on fremont street

hi,was wondering what people think about staying on fremont street for the CES show-is it too far?

due to the prices on the strip i was thinking about doing this-only ones i could afford on the strip would be the OYO which i presume should be avoided and maybe the palms..

fremont street seems quite interesting(have never been) but was wondering how transportation etc would be to the conference centre -thanks!

Staying on Fremont Street during the CES show can be an interesting and cost-effective option, but it does come with some considerations. Here's what you need to know:

Fremont Street is a historic and vibrant area of Las Vegas with a very different vibe compared to the Strip. It's known for its neon lights, casinos, and the Fremont Street Experience, which features a massive LED canopy with light shows and plenty of entertainment. It’s a fun area, but there are a few things to keep in mind for your stay during CES:

  • Distance to the Convention Center: Fremont Street is located about 2 to 3 miles north of the Las Vegas Strip, where the convention center is. It’s a short drive or ride-share trip (around 10-15 minutes) to the convention center. However, depending on traffic, it could take longer, especially during major events like CES. If you're planning to rely on public transportation, there is the Deuce bus service, which runs along the Strip and also stops at Fremont Street, but this can take longer due to multiple stops along the way.
  • Cost-Effectiveness: Staying on Fremont Street can definitely save you money compared to the Strip, especially if you’re avoiding higher-priced hotels like those near the convention center. Many Fremont Street hotels are more affordable, and while some may be more basic, you’re still in the heart of the action with lots of things to do. If you're on a budget, Fremont Street hotels are a good option.
  • Atmosphere: Fremont Street is a very lively area, especially at night, so if you're looking for a more traditional or quieter hotel experience, it might not be the best option. The noise can be intense due to the street performers, live music, and general hustle and bustle. But, if you enjoy a lively, energetic atmosphere, this could be a fun place to stay!
  • Transportation: Fremont Street is well-connected with ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft, and there’s also the Fremont Street Express (a shuttle) that can help you get to the Strip and the Convention Center. However, public transit is a bit slower, especially during major events, so ride-sharing or taxis might be your best option if you're in a hurry to get to CES events.

If you’re considering other hotels outside of Fremont Street but still looking for affordable options, The Palms is a good choice, though it’s a bit further from the convention center (around a 15-minute drive). As for OYO, it’s a budget option, but it does have mixed reviews, and some might prefer avoiding it depending on what you're looking for in terms of comfort and quality.

In summary, Fremont Street is a fun and affordable option, but consider the distance to the Convention Center, the lively atmosphere, and the transportation options when making your decision. If you don’t mind a bit of extra travel and enjoy a bustling environment, staying on Fremont Street could be a great option for CES. Just be sure to plan your transportation carefully during peak times!
