Jaws Tour

Hello

Myself and partner plan a day visit to MV in May. Staying in Falmouth and plan on catching an early ferry to MV and a late one back so a full day in MV. Will be foot passengers.

I'm a huge Jaws fan - can anyone recommend a 3-4 tour that takes in as many locations as possible, especially the Bridge ?

Outside Jaws, any recommendations for the day ? We enjoy wandering around small towns and appreciate a local beer or two

For a day trip to Martha’s Vineyard focused on Jaws filming locations, you’ll find that several tour operators offer boat excursions and land-based tours that highlight the most iconic spots, including the famous Brody Bridge scene. Since you’ll be foot passengers, it’s important to plan logistics around ferry times and local transport, as getting around the island without a car requires either biking, walking, or using local taxis/shuttles.

For a 3-4 hour Jaws-focused tour:

  • Jaws-Themed Boat Tours: Some local boat operators offer tours of the waters around Edgartown and Menemsha where key scenes were filmed. These tours often include commentary about filming locations, shark lore, and highlight the Brody Bridge area where the memorable bridge scene was shot.
  • Self-Guided or Bike Tours: If you prefer land exploration, renting a bike in Oak Bluffs or Edgartown allows you to visit many Jaws filming locations, including the iconic bridge. Maps of filming locations can be found online or at local visitor centers, and this gives flexibility for a 3-4 hour itinerary.
  • Guided Island Tours: Some island tour companies offer small-group minivan or bus tours that combine Jaws filming sites with scenic points and historical areas. These can cover Edgartown, Menemsha, and other key landmarks in a 3-4 hour window.

Outside of Jaws-related sites, Martha’s Vineyard offers plenty for a full day trip:

  • Explore Charming Towns: Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, and Vineyard Haven each have colorful streets, historic homes, boutique shops, and scenic harbors that are perfect for wandering.
  • Local Food & Drink: Enjoy fresh seafood, lobster rolls, and farm-to-table restaurants. For local beers, check out Martha’s Vineyard Brewing Company or Offshore Ale Company for a tasting or casual pint.
  • Beaches and Scenic Walks: South Beach near Edgartown or Menemsha Beach offers relaxing walks with ocean views. The cliffs at Aquinnah are also stunning for a short hike or photo stop.
  • Ferry Logistics: Since you plan an early ferry from Falmouth and a late one back, aim to schedule the Jaws tour mid-morning or early afternoon to leave time for exploring towns and grabbing lunch or a beer.

Overall, combining a 3-4 hour Jaws tour with strolling Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, and enjoying local food and drinks makes for a full and satisfying day on the island, even without a car. Planning your ferry times carefully and possibly reserving the Jaws tour in advance is highly recommended in May when the season starts to pick up.
