Salem tour?

My husband and I will be going to Boston in May with friends and we want to spend one day in Salem (my friend especially is interested in seeing "witchy" stuff). As all first-timers, should we book a tour? I've read that the trolley tour gives a good overview, but I am getting overwhelmed with all of the other options. Can anyone recommend a specific tour (including tour company) please? Or is the trolley tour a good one to take?
