Bars/Crab Cakes

Hello!

coming in Friday afternoon for the Ravens playoff game Saturday night. Decided to stay at the Hilton Inner Harbor (switched from the Canopy) so we could walk back to hotel after game and not have to worry about uber, rail etc. Looking for the best food places to explore local fare and best bars either near hotel or Fells Point. We are mid 40's. Obviously prefer to be within the safest areas if possible.

thanks!

You're in for a great time in Baltimore! The Hilton Inner Harbor is an excellent choice for its location near many great food spots, bars, and easy access to the stadium. Since you're looking to explore local fare, especially crab cakes, and enjoy some bars, here's a mix of food and drink recommendations around the Inner Harbor and Fells Point that should be perfect for your stay:

Food: Best Crab Cakes and Local Fare

  • Faidley’s Seafood – Located inside the Lexington Market, Faidley’s is a must for authentic Baltimore crab cakes. Known for their jumbo lump crab cakes, this spot has been a local favorite for years. It’s a casual setting, so it's perfect for a quick stop.
  • Joe Benny's – A bit of a hidden gem in Fells Point, Joe Benny's serves up delicious crab cakes along with other Italian-American favorites. It has a laid-back, cozy vibe, making it perfect for a relaxed meal.
  • The Capital Grille – If you're looking for a more upscale dining experience, The Capital Grille in the Inner Harbor serves excellent crab cakes along with a wide variety of steaks and seafood. It’s an elegant spot, ideal for a pre-game dinner or a post-game meal.
  • Water Street Seafood – Located in Fells Point, this spot offers fresh seafood and a great selection of crab cakes. It's a good blend of local flavor and a relaxed atmosphere with a great view of the harbor.

Bars: Great Spots to Enjoy Drinks

  • Rye Street Tavern – Located a bit south of the Inner Harbor in the Locust Point area, this modern tavern offers craft beers, cocktails, and a cozy atmosphere. It’s a popular spot among locals and visitors alike for a great drink selection.
  • The Horse You Came In On Saloon – In Fells Point, this is Baltimore’s oldest bar and a great spot for a classic dive bar experience. It has a fun, laid-back vibe, with plenty of history and character, making it perfect for a casual evening out.
  • Max's Taphouse – Also in Fells Point, Max’s Taphouse is a legendary bar with an extensive beer list (over 100 beers on tap). It’s a great spot if you're a fan of craft brews or just want a fun, casual atmosphere for drinks with your group.
  • The Abbey Burger Bistro – Located in the heart of Fells Point, The Abbey Burger Bistro is not only known for its delicious burgers but also for its great beer selection and laid-back atmosphere. It’s a fantastic spot to grab a bite to eat and enjoy a drink with friends.

Safety and Walking Around

Both the Inner Harbor and Fells Point are generally safe, especially for tourists, but like any urban area, it’s always a good idea to stay aware of your surroundings. The Hilton Inner Harbor is in a prime spot, and walking around the Inner Harbor is quite safe, even at night. Fells Point, while lively, is also a popular area for locals and tourists, so it tends to be busy and safe, but keep in mind that some areas around Fells Point can get quieter late at night. Stick to well-lit streets and main areas, and you'll have a great time!

Additional Tips

  • Since you're attending the Ravens game, the Inner Harbor and Fells Point are great spots to grab a bite or drinks before and after the game, and you’ll be close enough to easily walk back to your hotel.
  • If you're looking for a quieter bar with a relaxed vibe, try Bond Street Social in Fells Point. It's stylish and cozy, offering a good selection of cocktails and small plates.
  • If you’re in the mood for a unique experience, check out the Charm City Circulator — a free bus service that can help you get around if you’re planning to visit different neighborhoods or want to explore a bit further.

Enjoy your trip, and hope you have a great time at the game and exploring all the delicious food and vibrant bars Baltimore has to offer!
