Hotel near Harbor East Marina

Planning a short overnight visit to Baltimore by boat with friends who will be at Harbor East Marina. We will be booking a hotel and in the evening will likely head to Fells. I was looking at Marriott Baltimore Waterfront or Courtyard Baltimore Downtown Inner Harbor? Thoughts on those 2 options knowing where we plan to go in the evening and wish for an easy walk between marina and hotel?

For a short overnight stay in Baltimore with easy access to Harbor East Marina and an evening visit to Fells Point, both the Marriott Baltimore Waterfront and the Courtyard Baltimore Downtown Inner Harbor are solid options, but they have some differences worth considering based on location, convenience, and atmosphere.

Here’s a comparison to help you decide:

  • Marriott Baltimore Waterfront: This hotel is located in Harbor East, very close to the marina, making it extremely convenient if you are arriving by boat. The hotel is modern, with comfortable rooms, waterfront views, and amenities like a fitness center, restaurant, and easy walking access to Harbor East dining and bars. Walking to Fells Point from here is possible, though it’s roughly a 20-25 minute walk along scenic harbor routes or a short rideshare away if you prefer not to walk.
  • Courtyard Baltimore Downtown Inner Harbor: Located a bit closer to the main Inner Harbor attractions, this hotel offers convenient access to sightseeing areas, restaurants, and nightlife. It’s slightly farther from Harbor East Marina—about a 10-15 minute walk—so it’s still walkable but not as immediately adjacent as the Marriott. If your group plans to spend time exploring the Inner Harbor before heading to Fells Point, this location may feel more central.

Other considerations for your trip:

  • Walking convenience – Marriott is better for direct access to the marina, while Courtyard is more central for general downtown walking tours.
  • Evening plans – Both hotels provide reasonable access to Fells Point, but Marriott offers a slightly more scenic harbor walk, whereas Courtyard is a longer stroll and might require a rideshare for convenience at night.
  • Amenities – Marriott may feel a bit more upscale with waterfront views and on-site dining, while Courtyard provides solid comfort and reliable hotel services with easy access to other downtown attractions.

Overall, if the priority is proximity to Harbor East Marina and waterfront convenience, the Marriott Baltimore Waterfront is the better choice. If you want a more central downtown location for sightseeing and are okay with a slightly longer walk to the marina, the Courtyard Baltimore Downtown Inner Harbor is a strong alternative. For your evening plans in Fells Point, either hotel is convenient, with the option to walk or take a short rideshare.
