Cadillac hotel- recent reviews

Hi! We are planning to go to Miami in February and stay for either 3 or 4 nights. We are interested in the Cadillac Hotel. It seems to have mixed reviews recently. Does anyone have recent experience there? Or can suggest a similar hotel in amenities and price? I am most concerned about cleanliness and the room feeling updated. We are a family of 5 with teenagers and adult son.We actually want to be a little removed from the bustle of South Beach, but not too too far away.

Thank you!

Great question! The Cadillac Hotel & Beach Club is a Mid-Beach (Collins Avenue) property, so it's a bit removed from the South Beach buzz, which sounds like exactly what you're looking for. But you're right to dig into recent reviews — there’s definitely a mixed picture.

Recent (2024–2025) Feedback on Cadillac Hotel

  • On TripAdvisor, guests praise the location, outdoor seating, and beach access, but many note the rooms feel “a little tired,” with outdated bathrooms and dated tile work.
  • Some reviewers mention cleanliness issues: hair on carpets, weak housekeeping, and a lack of turn-down service.
  • Yelp has strong complaints, including broken safes, malfunctioning showers, and poor follow-through from management.
  • According to Expedia reviews (late 2025), there are many very happy guests — clean rooms, friendly staff, and beautiful beach + pool set-ups.
  • Reddit users echo the mixed sentiment: some say the design is retro-chic and love the mid-beach calm, others warn the rooms still feel like an “old Courtyard” and mention inconsistent service.
  • Another consistent gripe: resort fees are high, and beach umbrellas are extra.

Positives to Consider:

  • It’s family-friendly: they have a kids’ beach play area, a family pool, and suites / rooms with two queens.
  • Great ambiance: The Hotel Guru praises its Art Deco styling, two pools (one for families, one adults-only), and beachfront bar.
  • Eco-conscious: Recognized for sustainability (Green Lodging, turtle conservation, recycling, etc.) which may appeal to families who care about that.

Concerns to Be Aware Of:

  • Some rooms are quite dated, especially bathrooms (old tiles, dark finishes).
  • Service inconsistency: reviews mention slow housekeeping, forgotten towels, or even AC issues.
  • Extra fees: resort fees, umbrella fees, and possibly parking can add up.
  • Noisy streets: noise from Collins Ave and trash / delivery areas has been noted by travelers.

My Verdict: If you're okay with some trade-offs (older bathrooms, possible fees, and service ups and downs), the Cadillac can be a very charming and quieter base in Miami Beach — especially for a family of 5. Its location in Mid-Beach gives you beach access without the constant South Beach chaos. But if pristine, newly renovated rooms are your top priority, or if you want smoother, more consistent service, you might want to explore alternatives.

Alternative Hotels to Consider (Similar Vibe / Price):

  • Casa Faena — Mediterranean-Revival style hotel on Collins Ave with suites and a quieter Mid-Beach feel.
  • The Palms Hotel & Spa — More lush, tropical, and upscale; often compared to the Cadillac. (Reddit users mention it as a comparable but more polished option.)
  • Ocean Spray Hotel — Historic Art Deco hotel a little further north, simpler but full of character.
