International Smoke

I read that International Smoke at MGM is closing Jan. 19th. We haven't been there but have enjoyed the one in San Francisco, which is now the only remaining location.

Any word on what might be moving into their space?

It’s always disappointing when a favorite restaurant closes, especially one like International Smoke, which has garnered a loyal following for its unique blend of BBQ and international flavors. The news that the MGM location will close on January 19th has left many wondering about what's next for that space.

As of now, there has been no official confirmation regarding what will take over the space vacated by International Smoke. However, given the popularity of the MGM property and its constant evolution, it's expected that something new and exciting will replace it. Here are some possibilities based on the history of MGM’s restaurant space:

  • Celebrity Chef Restaurant: MGM is known for housing several celebrity chef concepts, such as those by Gordon Ramsay and Michael Mina. It’s possible that the space could be taken over by another high-profile chef offering a fresh dining experience.
  • New Cuisine Concept: MGM might take this opportunity to introduce a new restaurant featuring a different type of cuisine. This could range from a modern steakhouse, an Italian restaurant, or even something more exotic or trendy, in line with the current dining trends in Las Vegas.
  • Expansion of Existing Brands: Another possibility is that a popular existing MGM restaurant could expand into this location. If one of their current venues has a strong following, it may make sense for them to open a second location to meet demand.

For now, we’ll have to wait for the official announcement, but you can stay tuned to MGM’s website or local news outlets, as they often make announcements when big changes like this occur. If you're visiting Las Vegas before the closure, it might be a good idea to check out the restaurant one last time before it closes its doors.

It’s great to hear that you’ve enjoyed the San Francisco location of International Smoke! It’s a shame that the Las Vegas location is closing, but hopefully, something equally exciting will take its place soon.
