One month countdown - news and notes

To do list

*find a place to watch "The Big Game". We have two frontrunners. One offers open bar, pay for food. The other AYCE food but pay for drinks.

*2nd half of trip is new to us Casino Hotel, Paris. Should be fun. Been a while since we've had a new to us joint to explore/enjoy. Sometimes i forget the joy of experiencing the unknown. Lots of dinner options! We've never done Mon Ami or Eiffel, perhaps that will change next month???

*might throw a few Vegas flicks on the watchlist from Prime Video/Netflix this weekend. Last Vegas?

*and maybe start watching some slot videos on youtube...see if there are new games to try out. my wife found a couple in Reno over Thanksgiving weekend. Mo Mummy!!!

*Golden Steer is booked the entire timeframe. Ack. perhaps a physical phone call will find a table. If you like Caesar salad prepared tableside this is the place for you!

It looks like you have a lot of exciting plans lined up for your upcoming Vegas trip! Here's some feedback and tips for each item on your to-do list:

  • The Big Game Viewing: When it comes to watching "The Big Game," both options sound great! Here are a few pros and cons to consider:
    • Open bar, pay for food: The advantage here is that you won't have to worry about drink costs, which could add up quickly during a long game. But if you want to sample different foods, you might end up paying more overall.
    • AYCE food, pay for drinks: If you're planning to eat a lot, this is a good option since the buffet could be more cost-effective. Just remember to account for drink costs, as they can add up quickly.
  • Exploring the Paris Casino Hotel: The Paris is a great spot, and it's always fun to experience a new property! The Mon Ami Gabi is a classic favorite, with its great French-inspired menu and iconic patio views. Eiffel Tower Restaurant is a fantastic choice too, especially if you want to enjoy a romantic view of the Strip. Both are excellent, so it will depend on the atmosphere you're in the mood for.
  • Vegas Flicks: Watching movies set in Vegas is a fun way to get even more in the mood! Here are a few classics:
    • Last Vegas: A fun movie about a group of older friends revisiting Vegas to celebrate one of their weddings. It's lighthearted and humorous, definitely a good pick for a Vegas vibe.
    • Casino: If you want something more intense, Martin Scorsese’s *Casino* is a classic with its gritty depiction of Vegas during the rise of the mafia.
    • The Hangover: A more modern classic, and it's hilarious. It’s about a bachelor party gone wrong in Vegas, with lots of wild antics.
  • Slot Videos and New Games: If you're looking to check out new slot games, YouTube is a great place for that! You might find some fresh recommendations from Vegas enthusiasts. As for Mo Mummy, that game is a lot of fun, and you may even spot it in some Vegas casinos on your trip! It's always exciting to find new games to try out.
  • Golden Steer Reservations: It's a shame that Golden Steer is fully booked, but don’t worry—calling them directly might indeed open up some opportunities for a reservation. If you're unable to secure a table, consider trying similar places like Lawry’s The Prime Rib or Smith & Wollensky for a high-quality steak dinner. Both offer a fantastic dining experience with excellent service. As for Caesar salads prepared tableside, it’s definitely worth seeking out a restaurant that offers that experience!

It sounds like you're going to have an amazing time in Vegas! Make sure to enjoy your time at the Paris, try some great food, and maybe check out a few classic Vegas movies while you're there. Enjoy your trip!
