Bones dress code question

we are coming to Atlanta this weekend. Have reservations for Bones. I see they have a dress code.

Question: my husband owns a suit jacket but never wears it as there aren't places we go that suit w/a jackets are a thing where we liven Will there be people there with dress shirts and dress pants or will there be some with an actual suit jacket? Curious if we should pack it along or not.

Bones is an upscale steakhouse in Atlanta, and it does have a dress code, but it’s not overly formal. The general guideline is "business casual" or better, so you’ll see a mix of dress shirts, dress pants, and occasionally suits or sport coats. Given the atmosphere, it's not uncommon for patrons to wear suit jackets, but it's definitely not required for everyone.

  • Suit Jacket or No? While some guests may wear full suits, especially for special occasions, many people opt for a dress shirt and dress pants or a sport coat rather than a full suit. If your husband feels comfortable in a suit jacket, it’s always a nice touch for a fine dining experience, but it’s not necessary if he doesn’t want to wear it.
  • Alternative Options: If your husband owns a suit jacket but doesn’t usually wear it, he could consider wearing a nice dress shirt with slacks and possibly a sport coat instead. A sport coat is a great compromise—it’s a bit less formal than a full suit but still appropriate for the setting.
  • Other Considerations: For women, dresses or nice blouses with slacks or skirts are common. It’s generally a place where people like to dress up a bit, so you’ll want to lean towards looking polished and put together, but again, it’s not as formal as a black-tie dinner.

In summary: You don’t need to pack a full suit jacket unless your husband prefers that look. A sport coat or even a dress shirt with dress pants would be more than enough to meet the dress code while still being comfortable. If in doubt, it’s always better to err on the side of dressing up slightly more for an upscale restaurant like Bones, but you’ll see a range of dress styles, from business casual to a few suits. Enjoy your dinner!
