Luggage storage

We will be in Juneau in August. We need somewhere to store our luggage for the day. Cruise ends at 7:00AM and our plane leaves at 6PM. Can’t tour with luggage, help!

Visiting Juneau for a day after a cruise can be tricky if you need to store luggage, but there are several practical options to consider so you can enjoy the day unencumbered.

Hotel Options:

Many downtown Juneau hotels offer luggage storage even if you are not staying overnight. You can call ahead to confirm availability. Popular hotels include:

  • Four Points by Sheraton Juneau
  • Best Western Plus Juneau Hotel
  • Juneau Hotel

These hotels typically allow you to drop off bags in the morning and pick them up later in the day, sometimes for a small fee.

Luggage Storage Services:

Juneau has a few local businesses and services that specialize in luggage storage for cruise passengers and day visitors:

  • Alaska Luggage Storage & Tours – Offers secure storage by the hour or day and is conveniently located near the cruise docks.
  • Juneau Tours & Luggage Storage – Some local tour companies allow luggage drop-off if you book a tour, effectively letting you explore with your belongings safely stored.

Cruise Port Facilities:

Some cruise terminals may offer temporary luggage storage or coordinate with nearby hotels and tour companies. It’s worth contacting your cruise line to ask if they can hold bags for a few hours after disembarkation.

Tips for a Smooth Day:

  • Call ahead to any hotel or service to confirm hours, fees, and security procedures.
  • Label your bags clearly and keep essentials like travel documents, wallet, and medications with you.
  • Plan your day so you can pick up luggage with enough time to reach the airport for your 6PM flight, keeping in mind potential traffic or ferry schedules if needed.

With these options, you can enjoy your day in Juneau—exploring Mendenhall Glacier, downtown shops, or taking a whale watching tour—without worrying about carrying your luggage around.
