Bus fare and pay cash
Hi everybody,
Can we pay $7.50 cash to bus driver and have a day pass? Or have to go to abc to buy? Thanks
You cannot pay $7.50 in cash directly to the bus driver for a day pass on Oahu's TheBus system. The daily pass is available, but the bus driver will only accept exact change for the standard fare, which is $2.75 per ride (as of now). To get a day pass, you have a couple of options:
- ABC Stores: You can purchase a 1-day pass from an ABC Store. These stores are all around Honolulu, including near popular tourist spots like Waikiki. A 1-day pass costs $7.50 and allows you unlimited rides on TheBus for the day.
- Online or at a Retailer: In addition to ABC Stores, you can also buy a day pass at other participating retailers or via online options like the official TheBus website (if you're planning ahead and prefer having your pass ready before you board). Many stores in Oahu offer the passes for easy access.
- TheBus Pass Vendor Machines: Some bus stops have vending machines where you can buy the day pass, although this might not be available at every stop. Make sure to check the bus stop for the vending machine before boarding.
While the $7.50 day pass cannot be purchased directly from the bus driver, buying it from one of these locations will give you the flexibility to explore the island with unlimited rides on TheBus for the day. It's an affordable and convenient way to travel around Oahu!
