Taxis with infant car seats
Hello,
Wondering if anyone is aware of a taxi service in Miami which on request provides an infant car seat?
Hard to find online, mostly third parties.
Transfer from the airport is easy to find but we just need a number so that we can go out and about during the day. Happy to plan in advance (ie day before) but would prefer not to plan in advance much more than that.
We could rent a car seat but would prefer a service that provides it so we don’t have to lug it around all day!
Thanks in advance
In Miami, finding a taxi or ride service that provides an infant car seat can be challenging, as traditional taxis usually do not carry them by default. However, there are several options that cater to families or those traveling with small children.
Here’s a detailed overview:
- Uber and Lyft with car seat options: Both Uber and Lyft now offer services in Miami that allow you to request a car seat. Uber’s “Car Seat” option is available for children aged 2–5 (approx. 22–48 lbs, 31–52 inches). You must select this option in the app when requesting your ride. Lyft has a similar service called “Car Seat” that may also be requested ahead of time.
- Specialized family taxi services: There are local companies in Miami that provide taxis or vans equipped with infant or toddler car seats. Examples include:
- Baby Cab Miami: Offers vehicles with infant car seats and toddler seats on request. Booking a few hours in advance is recommended.
- Miami VIP Shuttle & Taxi: Can provide car seats for airport transfers and daytime trips; they often allow booking a day in advance.
- Elite Shuttle or Limo Services: Many private shuttles and limo services carry car seats and can be booked for multiple trips during the day.
Additional tips:
- Call ahead to confirm availability of the car seat, even if using app-based services.
- Specify the type of seat you need (infant vs. toddler) to ensure it fits your child properly.
- Consider renting a car with a car seat for full-day flexibility, especially if planning multiple stops, as this may be more convenient than booking multiple rides.
- Some hotels and resorts can arrange taxis or private cars with car seats, so check with your accommodation as an option.
In summary, while traditional taxis in Miami generally do not carry infant seats, ride-hailing apps with the car seat option or specialized family-oriented shuttle and taxi companies can meet your needs. Planning a few hours to a day in advance ensures a car seat will be available, making it easier to get around the city with your infant without lugging your own seat around.
