Hotel recommendations

Hi all, my husband and I will be coming to Ft Meyers in March, and are going to Jet Blue park one night. We’re looking for a nice hotel that is not too far of a drive from the park but maybe has beach, restaurants, bars within walking distance. Not sure what area we should stay in? All suggestions greatly appreciated!!

Fort Myers is a great base for combining a visit to JetBlue Park with some beach time and dining options. The area offers several neighborhoods that balance proximity to the stadium with access to the Gulf Coast beaches and vibrant dining scenes.

Here are some recommended areas to consider:

  • Fort Myers Beach: About a 25-30 minute drive to JetBlue Park. This area has a lively strip with beachfront bars, restaurants, and shops, plus easy beach access. Many hotels and resorts are within walking distance to the sand and nightlife.
  • Sanibel Island: Roughly 40 minutes to JetBlue Park. Famous for its quieter beaches and natural scenery, Sanibel offers boutique resorts and condos. Dining options are more relaxed but charming, often within walking distance of the beach.
  • Fort Myers River District (Downtown): Around 15-20 minutes to JetBlue Park. This area is more urban, with a selection of boutique hotels, trendy restaurants, and bars. There is no beach, but it’s convenient for evening activities after a game or day of exploring.
  • Cape Coral: About 20-25 minutes from the stadium. Offers a mix of waterfront hotels and vacation rentals. Some dining is walkable near marinas, but for beaches, you’d still need to drive a bit.

Hotel suggestions based on your priorities:

  • Lighthouse Resort Inn & Suites (Fort Myers Beach): Beachfront, easy access to bars and restaurants, casual resort with pools and ocean views.
  • Pink Shell Beach Resort & Marina (Fort Myers Beach): Full-service resort with beach access, multiple on-site dining options, pools, and spa facilities.
  • Casa Ybel Resort (Sanibel): Classic beachfront property with relaxed vibe, close to island restaurants, bike rentals, and shops.
  • Hotel Indigo Fort Myers Downtown River District: Trendy boutique hotel, walking distance to downtown dining and bars, about 15-20 minutes from JetBlue Park.
  • Marriott Sanibel Harbour Resort & Spa: Larger resort option, waterfront location, golf, and marina activities. About 35-40 minutes to JetBlue Park.

Tips for your stay:

  • If your main goal is JetBlue Park plus beach relaxation, staying on Fort Myers Beach balances both well with a manageable drive to the stadium.
  • If you prefer a quieter getaway with more scenic surroundings, Sanibel Island is ideal, though it will be a slightly longer drive to the game.
  • Downtown Fort Myers offers walkable nightlife and dining but requires a short drive to the beach.
  • Check for hotels that offer shuttle service or easy parking if you plan to drive to the game.

Overall, for a combination of beach access, restaurants, and a short drive to JetBlue Park, Fort Myers Beach is probably the best compromise, with Sanibel offering a more tranquil alternative and downtown Fort Myers providing urban convenience.
