Napa Valley Wine Train wines for purchase

Hi, i have been given a Wine Train luncheon for 2. But noted that it only comes with 1 bubbly Wine to start. Is it better to just buy glasses of wine at desired or upgrade to the VIP or Legacy tours?

The Napa Valley Wine Train luncheon experience is a wonderful way to enjoy scenic views, fine dining, and a taste of Napa wines. The standard luncheon package includes one sparkling wine to start, which is often sufficient for a casual experience. However, if you and your guest enjoy sampling multiple wines or prefer a more curated tasting experience, there are several options to consider.

1. Buying individual glasses of wine:

  • At the standard luncheon, you can purchase additional glasses of wine from the wine list. This allows you to choose wines that pair with your meal and try different varietals without committing to a higher-tier ticket.
  • Pros: Flexibility, pay only for what you want, can customize pairings with food.
  • Cons: Cost can add up quickly if you plan to try several wines.

2. Upgrading to VIP or Legacy tours:

  • VIP Tour: Includes premium wine selections served throughout the ride, typically a wider variety than the standard lunch. You may also get access to wine tastings before boarding or in private lounges.
  • Legacy Tour: Offers the most extensive wine experience, often including multiple pre-selected wines, priority seating, and sometimes exclusive wine tastings or wine train souvenirs.
  • Pros: Comprehensive wine experience, easier than ordering multiple glasses, often includes rare or limited-release wines.
  • Cons: Higher ticket price, less flexibility to choose each glass individually if you have specific preferences.

Recommendation: If your primary goal is to enjoy a leisurely lunch and perhaps try one or two additional wines, buying individual glasses with the standard luncheon is likely sufficient. If you are wine enthusiasts wanting a full tasting experience and to try a variety of premium wines, upgrading to the VIP or Legacy tour could enhance your visit and may be more cost-effective than purchasing several individual glasses.

Ultimately, it depends on your interest in wine variety versus flexibility and cost. Many first-time passengers enjoy the standard lunch with one or two extra glasses, while wine aficionados often choose the VIP or Legacy experience for a more immersive Napa wine adventure.
