America The Beautiful pass - IMAX Theatre

Hi

I was thinking about buying an ATB annual pass online from usparkpass.com. The price is £80.25 including postage - so around $101.

However, I've now read that I can buy this at the GC Visitor Centre at IMAX in Tusayan, presumably for $80. So my plan is to buy this the evening before our visit. (GCNP is the first of 3 that we will be visiting).

Does that make sense?

Yes, your plan makes sense and is actually a common approach for international visitors. Purchasing the America the Beautiful (ATB) annual pass in person at the Grand Canyon Visitor Center or the IMAX Theatre in Tusayan allows you to avoid international shipping fees and potential currency conversion costs. The in-person price in USD is $80, which is less than what you would pay online with postage and currency conversion from £80.25 (~$101).

Some important considerations:

  • Buying the pass in person also allows you to start using it immediately at Grand Canyon National Park, which is convenient since this is the first of three parks you plan to visit.
  • If you buy online, you may receive the physical card via mail, which can take several days or weeks, and it may not arrive in time for your first park visit.
  • Ensure you bring a valid ID with you when purchasing in person, as the pass is issued to an individual and cannot be shared.
  • Some visitor centers have extended hours, but it’s a good idea to check the closing time at the Tusayan IMAX or Visitor Center to make sure you can purchase the pass the evening before your visit.

Additional tips:

  • If you prefer not to wait in line at the park entrance the next day, buying the pass the evening before is smart.
  • Keep your receipt until you receive the physical pass, in case of any issues.

Overall, purchasing the ATB pass in person at Tusayan the evening before your Grand Canyon visit is cost-effective, convenient, and avoids the extra fees associated with ordering from abroad.
