Transportation from Seward to Soldotna
We are arriving at Seward after a cruise and need transportation to Soldotna to attend a wedding. Is there any shuttle or bus options so we don’t have to rent a car? Thx in advance!
Traveling from Seward to Soldotna without a rental car is possible, though options are limited as Alaska is largely car-dependent outside major cities. The distance is roughly 120 miles and takes about 2.5–3 hours by car, so planning ahead is important.
Shuttle or Bus Options:
- Alaska Coach Tours / Shuttle Services: Some regional shuttle companies operate along the Seward to Kenai Peninsula route. You’ll need to check schedules in advance, as not all runs operate daily, especially outside peak tourist season.
- Private Shuttle Services: Companies like Seward Shuttle & Tours or Kenai Peninsula Shuttle may provide private or semi-private rides that can be booked for specific times. This is more flexible than public buses but more expensive than a regular bus.
- Public Bus Options: The Alaska Department of Transportation does not run a regular public bus between Seward and Soldotna. However, some intercity connections might be available through Greyhound Alaska or local charter services if booked in advance.
Alternative Options:
- Rideshare or carpooling apps can occasionally connect travelers along this route, but availability may be limited in smaller towns.
- Taxi services for such a long distance are very costly and not generally recommended for a 2.5–3 hour drive.
- If traveling with others, consider sharing a rental car with your group for the day. This can be more convenient and cost-effective than arranging multiple shuttles.
Given the limited fixed-schedule shuttle options, booking a private shuttle or arranging a rental car is often the most reliable way to ensure you arrive on time for your event in Soldotna.
