MGM rewards comp booking

Hi, we’ve got the aria booked for 5 nights with 2 comp nights however I’ve seen that the Cosmo have now reduced their nightly rate and I get 2 comp nights there also. However I can’t book that online and then cancel the aria as it says overlapping reservation and I don’t really want to cancel the aria and then book the Cosmo in case rates go up and then I can’t get my initial rates at aria back. Would best advice be to call? Thanks

If you want to take advantage of the reduced rates at The Cosmopolitan while also keeping your original reservation at Aria, the best course of action would indeed be to call MGM Rewards customer service directly. Here are the steps you can take:

  • Contact MGM Rewards: Calling will allow you to speak to a representative who can help you navigate the overlapping reservation issue. They may be able to assist in adjusting your reservation without losing your current rates at Aria, or they may help you move your comp nights from one hotel to another without incurring any penalties.
  • Ask for flexibility: Explain your concern about potentially losing the Aria reservation if you cancel it and the rates change. MGM Rewards might be able to put a note on your account to protect your initial booking rate while you finalize your decision about switching to The Cosmopolitan.
  • Check for availability: When you call, confirm that there are still rooms available at The Cosmopolitan at the discounted rate. If there’s no guarantee of availability or if the rates could change again, you might want to lock in the Aria reservation and then review your options once you're closer to the check-in date.
  • Consider a split stay: If you want to experience both hotels and the comp nights at each, ask the representative if it’s possible to do a split stay, with the first part of your trip at Aria and the second part at The Cosmopolitan. They may be able to assist you in making this adjustment while maintaining your comp nights.
  • Flexibility on cancellation policies: You can also inquire about the cancellation policy at Aria. If it’s flexible, you could wait and see if the rates at The Cosmopolitan hold, and cancel the Aria booking closer to your travel dates if necessary.

While booking online is convenient, contacting customer service directly will give you peace of mind, especially when handling overlapping reservations and comp nights. This way, you can make an informed decision without the risk of losing out on a better deal.
