Golden Nugget - Tip Casino Hosts?

We have been to Vegas maybe 10 times, and just have started taking advantage of a casino host and comps. I will just say that Vegas comps are a lot more generous than the local Indian casinos.

With that being said, should we be tipping out host? A gift card or cash? I googled and saw that host may not be allowed to accept tips so I was just curious of common practice for LV and the Golden Nugget in particular...

Thanks!

It’s great that you’re exploring the perks of having a casino host in Las Vegas! They can really enhance your experience and make your trips more enjoyable with the comps and personalized service. Regarding tipping your casino host, the general rules can vary, but here’s a breakdown of common practices in Las Vegas, including specifically at the Golden Nugget:

In most cases, casino hosts are not allowed to accept direct cash tips, as they are compensated by the casino for their services. Tipping them in cash could violate the casino’s internal policies. However, many players still want to show their appreciation for excellent service, so here are some common ways to express gratitude:

  • Gift Cards: A thoughtful and practical way to show appreciation is by giving a gift card. Many hosts will accept gift cards to places like restaurants, Amazon, or department stores. This option avoids any policy violations and is often well-received.
  • Thank You Notes: A simple, handwritten thank-you note can go a long way in expressing your appreciation for your host’s help. Personalizing your note with specific ways the host helped you will make it even more meaningful.
  • Future Play: Another way to show your appreciation is by continuing to play at the casino and maintaining a good relationship with your host. Casinos appreciate loyal customers who frequently visit and maintain a steady level of play.

Regarding tipping policies at the Golden Nugget specifically, it’s always a good idea to ask your host directly or inquire at the casino's VIP services desk to understand their specific rules. Hosts at the Golden Nugget (and most Las Vegas casinos) are likely to have similar guidelines about not accepting tips directly, but they may appreciate a thoughtful gesture like a gift card.

Overall, if you’re unsure, it’s always safe to ask the host directly if they accept tips and, if so, how best to show your appreciation. That way, you’re respecting their rules while still showing gratitude for the service provided. Enjoy your next visit to Vegas!
