Offers Review: Vdara v Cosmo - WWYD?

Sooo ..

Just checking my offers for part of my stay and I have this come up:

Cosmo 1-brm terrace for $585

I currently have a Vdara Studio parlor booked for $590. No resort fees and the negligible RC and FP stays the same.

What would you do? I haven’t stayed at Cosmo before.

What’s the pool like at Cosmo? I happen to quite like Vdara pool even with the death ray ;)

Both Vdara and The Cosmopolitan are great options, but they offer different vibes and experiences, so it really depends on what kind of experience you're looking for. Here are a few things to consider when deciding between the two:

  • Vdara:
    • No resort fees (a big plus, as the resort fees can add up quickly at many hotels on the Strip), which makes it a more cost-effective option, especially if you're staying for multiple nights.
    • Quiet, more relaxed atmosphere. Vdara is a non-smoking, non-gaming hotel, so it’s a more tranquil environment compared to many other hotels on the Strip. If you’re after a quieter, more peaceful stay, Vdara is perfect.
    • The Vdara pool, while nice, does have the infamous “death ray” effect due to the surrounding high-rise buildings reflecting the sun. While it’s not a huge deal for most, it’s worth considering if you plan to spend a lot of time poolside. Some people love the pool's vibe, but others might not enjoy the heat in the afternoon. Still, it’s a great spot to relax if you don’t mind a bit of sunshine intensity.
    • Room-wise, you’re already set with a Studio Parlor, which is modern and spacious with a nice design. Vdara tends to feel a bit more "apartment-like" in a good way—perfect if you like cooking in your room or having some extra space.
  • The Cosmopolitan:
    • The 1-bedroom Terrace is a fantastic choice—great for its spaciousness and those gorgeous terraces with a view. You’d have a lovely space to enjoy cocktails or just chill out on your own private terrace. Cosmo is known for its vibrant, trendy atmosphere, so if you're looking for a bit more energy, Cosmo delivers.
    • Cosmo's pool area is much more lively, with a chic vibe that attracts a younger crowd. The Marquee Dayclub is part of the scene, so it can get lively, especially on weekends. It’s great if you want a fun, poolside social scene, but it’s not as relaxing as the pool at Vdara, which is more laid back.
    • Cosmo also has a bit of a “Vegas party” atmosphere, so if you're looking for something more energetic with dining, nightlife, and entertainment options nearby, Cosmo is your spot. You’ll also have easy access to some of the best restaurants, like Jaleo and Momofuku, and the famous Chandelier Bar.
    • One consideration is that Cosmo’s resort fees and overall pricing tend to be higher. For example, the $585 price tag might still have some additional fees, so be mindful of that if you're comparing costs. While it offers a lot in terms of location, food, and nightlife, it could end up being more expensive overall depending on your dates and resort fees.

So, what should you do?

  • Go for Vdara if: You prefer a quieter, more relaxed environment with no resort fees. You also love the idea of having a spacious, apartment-like room and don’t mind the pool situation. It’s a great choice for a peaceful stay.
  • Go for The Cosmopolitan if: You want a more vibrant, trendy experience with access to fantastic dining and nightlife. The terrace at Cosmo is a huge selling point if you want some extra space with a view. The pool scene is definitely more lively, so if you're into that vibe, Cosmo is ideal.

Both are fantastic hotels, so it really depends on your personal preferences and the type of Vegas experience you're looking for!
