Easter 2025 - will Miami be super busy?!

We are thinking of heading down to Miami on the Brightline from Orlando for a few days around 12-15 April. This is the week before Easter.

I’m concerned there will be Spring Break crowds and it will be too crazy busy. Am I worrying unnecessarily? We’re a family of four from the UK with two kids ages 13 & 9. I’ve been looking at the RC South Beach or RC Key Biscayne.

I’d love to see Miami but wondering if Singer Island / Palm Beach might be better at that time of year? Thanks for any advice!

It’s understandable that you’re concerned about the potential crowds in Miami around mid-April, especially since it's a popular spring break destination. However, there are a few things to consider that can help you determine if your trip will be more crowded than expected.

In 2025, Easter falls on Sunday, April 20th, which means the week before (April 12-15) will likely see some spring break crowds, particularly on the beaches and in tourist hotspots. Miami is always a lively city, but the busiest time is usually during the actual spring break period, which typically peaks from early March through mid-April, so you'll be visiting just before the official Easter weekend rush.

Here’s what you can expect and some tips for your trip:

  • Spring Break in Miami: Miami Beach, especially areas like South Beach, tends to attract spring break crowds, which can make the area more crowded and bustling with younger travelers. However, since your visit is just before Easter, you might avoid the peak of the wild spring break parties, though expect some crowds around popular spots like Ocean Drive and Lincoln Road.
  • Family-Friendly Areas: If you’re looking to avoid the heaviest crowds, Key Biscayne is a great option. It's more relaxed, with beautiful beaches and a quieter, family-friendly vibe compared to South Beach. It’s also less likely to be as crowded as the main South Beach area during spring break.
  • RC South Beach vs. RC Key Biscayne: The Ritz-Carlton South Beach is located right in the heart of the action, so it can be a bit more vibrant and busy, but it's a great option if you want to be close to the city’s entertainment and cultural scene. On the other hand, the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne offers a more peaceful retreat with a quieter beach atmosphere, perfect for families looking for relaxation without the craziness of South Beach.
  • Singer Island / Palm Beach: If you’re concerned about Miami being too crowded, Singer Island and Palm Beach are excellent alternatives. These areas tend to be quieter and more laid-back, especially compared to Miami Beach. Singer Island is home to several resorts with beautiful beaches, and Palm Beach offers upscale shopping and dining with a more relaxed pace. If you prefer a calmer, less hectic experience, these places could be a good fit, especially if you're looking for family-friendly resorts and activities.

In summary, while Miami will likely have spring break crowds, you should be able to enjoy a relaxing family vacation with careful planning. Key Biscayne offers a quieter experience, and Singer Island or Palm Beach will be much less crowded. The decision ultimately depends on what kind of atmosphere you're hoping for—vibrant and lively or peaceful and relaxing. Either way, Miami offers a lot for families to enjoy!

Hope this helps, and enjoy your trip!
