Boston Airport Terminal A to E

I am flying in from San Juan and connecting on a flight to London, I have a through ticket and have 1hr 17 mins from landing to take off, the airline assures me that’s fine.

I arrive in terminal A and leave from terminal E ~ is this doable ? And is it easy to see where to go etc?

Thank you

Connecting from Terminal A to Terminal E at Boston Logan Airport (BOS) with a 1 hour 17 minute layover is certainly doable, especially since you’re on a through ticket and the airline is confident about the timing. However, there are a few things to keep in mind to make your connection as smooth as possible:

  • Airport Layout: Boston Logan Airport is relatively easy to navigate. Terminals A and E are not too far apart, but they are not right next to each other. You’ll need to take the shuttle bus to get from Terminal A to Terminal E. This shuttle runs frequently (typically every 5-10 minutes) and is free of charge.
  • Shuttle Service: The shuttle bus takes passengers between terminals and typically takes around 5-7 minutes, depending on traffic and wait times. The shuttle stop in Terminal A is located on the ground level outside of baggage claim, and you’ll find a similar stop at Terminal E for your departure. Signs for the shuttle service are clearly marked, so you should have no trouble finding them.
  • Security & Customs: Since you're connecting from an international to an international flight, you will not have to go through customs again if your baggage is checked through to your final destination. You’ll just need to clear security again at Terminal E, so keep that in mind when planning your time. If you have TSA PreCheck, it will make your passage through security much faster.
  • Time Consideration: While 1 hour 17 minutes is generally enough time to transfer between these terminals, you should move quickly once you land. Make sure you follow the signs and head directly for the shuttle bus after landing. Boston is a busy airport, so during peak times, you may experience a slight delay in getting to the shuttle or security lines at Terminal E. However, with your airline’s assurance, they likely have experience handling these connections.
  • Flight Updates: It’s always a good idea to keep an eye on the flight status on the airport monitors for any gate changes or delays, especially if you’re tight on time. If your incoming flight from San Juan is delayed, the airline might assist with expedited transfer to your connecting gate.

In summary, while your layover time is a bit tight, it is doable if you act quickly and efficiently. Follow the shuttle signs, clear security at Terminal E, and keep an eye on any potential delays or gate changes. Safe travels!
