South Seas Resort

We’re considering booking 2-3 beach villas at the resort for a large family gathering. Other than the beach, is there anything within walking distance? How should we plan to get around? We’ll have cars but do we need to drive everywhere?

Also, are there beach chairs near the villas? How does that work?

Thanks for any insights!

South Seas Island Resort is a beautiful and expansive property, making it an excellent choice for a large family gathering! Here's some information to help you plan your stay:

Walkability and Getting Around:

While the resort has a lot to offer, the property is quite large, so you will likely need to drive or use resort transportation for many activities. However, there are some options to get around without needing to drive everywhere:

  • Golf Carts: The resort offers golf cart rentals, which are a popular way to get around the property, especially for larger groups. Golf carts provide easy access to various areas of the resort without the need for a car. You can rent these carts for convenience, and they can be used to access places like the marina, restaurants, and other amenities.
  • Shuttles and Resort Buses: Depending on your villa's location, the resort may also provide shuttle or tram services to key spots within the property, like the beach, pool, or restaurants. Check with the front desk for availability.
  • Walking: While much of the resort requires transportation, the main beach area and some dining options are walkable, depending on where your villas are located. Be sure to check the layout of the resort when you check in to get a sense of what is within walking distance from your accommodations.

Beach Chairs and Beach Access:

For beach access and chairs, South Seas Resort provides beach chairs for guests to use on the beach. Here's what you can expect:

  • Chairs and Umbrellas: The resort offers chairs and umbrellas at the beach, though availability may vary depending on the time of year. These are typically provided to resort guests and can be set up for you when you arrive at the beach. If you'd like a guaranteed spot or reserved seating, it's a good idea to get there early during peak times.
  • Villas with Beach Access: If you're staying in a villa close to the beach, you should have easy access to the sand, but you may still want to ask the front desk or concierge about specific beach chair services available near your villa.
  • Beach Activities: If you're interested in other beach amenities or activities (like kayaks, paddleboards, etc.), check with the resort for rental options or packages that might be available during your stay.

Other Amenities and Activities Nearby:

While the resort itself has plenty to do, especially around the beach, there are a few nearby attractions you may want to consider:

  • Restaurants: South Seas Island Resort has several dining options on-site, including waterfront dining. Depending on where your villas are located, you may be able to walk to a few of these restaurants, or you'll use a golf cart or resort shuttle to get to them.
  • Boating and Water Sports: The marina at South Seas Resort offers boat rentals, fishing charters, and water sports activities like paddleboarding, jet skiing, and kayaking. This area is within walking distance of some accommodations, but a golf cart may be needed for others.
  • Golf and Tennis: If your family enjoys tennis or golf, South Seas offers facilities for both. Golf carts are likely the best way to get to the golf course, but the tennis courts are generally easy to access.
  • Exploring Captiva Island: If you want to explore beyond the resort, Captiva Island has other charming attractions, including shops, restaurants, and local wildlife. You’ll likely need a car to explore beyond the immediate resort area.

Overall, South Seas Island Resort offers a lot for families, but you should definitely plan to use either cars or golf carts to fully enjoy the resort's amenities and attractions. For a family gathering, the villas are a great option, but plan ahead for getting around. Also, inquire at the resort about specific details regarding beach chairs, as services may vary based on the season and villa location.
