Hong Kong Visit Visa application - amend submitted form

I applied for visit Visa wherein there is a question for "Length of residence in country of domicile".

I am an NRI having valid PR in my country of residence. Can someone clarify whether here we need to mention the

a. remaining validity of our PR (Permanent Residence) card (or)

b. total number of years lived in Qatar (or)

c. total no of years lived + remaining validity of our PR card

Currently I have mentioned only the remaining validity of our PR card. If this information is wrong, please advise which detail I need to enter and how to change the details in the Visa application form which I have already submitted online.

Thanks,

In the Hong Kong visit visa application form, the question “Length of residence in country of domicile” refers to how long you have already been living in your country of residence, not the validity period of your permanent residence (PR) card. The Immigration Department uses this information to assess your ties to your current country of domicile and your overall travel history.

Therefore, the correct information to provide should be the total number of years (or months, if less than a year) you have continuously lived in your country of domicile up to the date of application. It is not related to the remaining validity period of your PR card or a combination of both.

  • Option (a) – Remaining validity of your PR card: ❌ Not correct, as this refers only to your permit’s expiry, not your residence duration.
  • Option (b) – Total number of years lived in Qatar: ✅ Correct. This is the information the form is asking for.
  • Option (c) – Total number of years lived + remaining validity: ❌ Not applicable; these are two separate concepts.

If you have already submitted the form and entered only the remaining PR validity, you should amend the information to avoid confusion. The Hong Kong Immigration Department allows updates or corrections after submission, but the process depends on how you applied.

  • If you applied online – You cannot directly edit a submitted application. You should send an email to the Hong Kong Immigration Department’s Visa Division explaining the correction. Include your application reference number, full name, date of birth, and the specific field you wish to correct, along with the correct information.
  • If you applied through a local Chinese visa application centre or via courier – Contact the centre where you submitted your application and inform them of the correction. They may ask you to provide a written statement or a new form section with the correct details.
  • If the application is still under review – The Immigration Department usually accepts small factual corrections via email before approval is granted.

In your case, it would be best to clarify that you meant to indicate the total number of years you have resided in Qatar and provide the correct figure in your message. This ensures consistency and avoids delays in visa processing.

To summarize, “Length of residence in country of domicile” means how long you have continuously lived in that country, regardless of your PR card’s validity. You can correct this information by contacting the Hong Kong Immigration Department or your visa submission centre with the correct details as soon as possible.
