Hi,
I'm will be arriving on PR310 Sun 02nd Feb at 9:40pm at HKIA with my brother and mother with suitcases to go to Shenzhen via Lo Wu.
Do you think we will make the last train at Sheung Shui to Lo Wu MTR station, if will get a bus or taxi from HKIA?
Or do you think it is better to get a taxi to Lo Wu station?
Also, I only ever entered Shenzhen via Lo Wu MTR station exit, can we walk into Lo Wu MTR station to exit Hong Kong?
Thanks
Arriving at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) at 9:40pm and planning to get to Lo Wu via Sheung Shui MTR can be tight, mainly due to the MTR operating hours and transfer times. Here’s a detailed breakdown:
MTR Option:
The MTR East Rail Line from Sheung Shui to Lo Wu typically stops running around midnight. Considering your arrival at 9:40pm, you will first need to clear immigration, collect any checked luggage, and travel from HKIA to the city (Tung Chung or Airport Express stations) to connect to the East Rail Line. By the time you reach Sheung Shui, it could easily be after 11:30pm.
Bus or Taxi Option:
Taking a taxi directly from HKIA to Lo Wu MTR station is safer for a late arrival:
Border crossing at Lo Wu MTR station:
Recommendation: Given your late arrival and the luggage situation, taking a taxi directly from HKIA to Lo Wu MTR station is the safest and most convenient option. The MTR is feasible but risky for missing the last train, especially with delays or slow transfer times.
