I’m in town for a conference and have half day Saturday before my red eye home and what I would like to do is a massage and the desert botanical gardens. I’ve looked at various places for massages and they all seem similar priced, I settled on these two given they are in the vicinity of the gardens but am open to others that are in the area! If there’s feedback to the order I should do this like better to do the gardens in the afternoon vs midday or vice versa let me know bc I haven’t booked anything! Also any other suggestions welcomed!
TIA!
Both the Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Montelucia and the Arizona Biltmore offer excellent spa experiences, but they do have different atmospheres and strengths. Since you're pairing a massage with a visit to the Desert Botanical Garden, choosing the right order and location can make your half-day smooth and relaxing.
The Omni Montelucia’s Joya Spa is known for being serene, Moroccan-inspired, and highly atmospheric. The facility includes a relaxing rooftop pool, meditation room, sauna/steam areas, and beautiful mountain views. It’s the more “escape-from-the-world” option. It’s about 15–20 minutes from Desert Botanical Garden.
The Arizona Biltmore Spa is polished, modern, and deeply tied to the historic Frank Lloyd Wright-influenced architecture of the resort. The spa is smaller than Joya but very high-quality. The Biltmore is a bit closer to the Garden and often feels more convenient if you're squeezing a lot into a short window.
In terms of planning the day, the Desert Botanical Garden is most pleasant in the morning or late afternoon. Midday, even in cooler seasons, tends to be the brightest and least comfortable time for wandering the outdoor paths. A massage after hours of sun and walking may feel less relaxing than doing it beforehand.
Here are recommendations for the order of your activities:
If you’re truly choosing based on the spa experience alone, Joya Spa at the Omni generally wins for ambiance and amenities. If convenience, shorter travel time, and a modern spa vibe matter more, the Biltmore is perfect.
Either way, both are reliable, popular choices, and pairing either with the Desert Botanical Garden makes for a beautiful and refreshing final half-day before your flight home.
