South/mid beach recommendations
Hi, I'm staying in mid beach today and here for a few nights on my own. Im 29, is there anywhere I can meet people? Any dress code for bars? Also I know it's expensive but are there any affordable bars/places to eat? Not looking forward to paying $20 a shot lol.
Also is it safe to be out here solo at night?
Miami Beach, especially mid-beach, has a lot to offer for solo travelers looking to meet new people, enjoy good food, and have fun. Here's a breakdown of what you can expect in terms of places to go, affordability, and safety:
Meeting People:
Miami Beach is a lively spot, and there are several places where you can meet others, whether you're looking for socializing or a more laid-back experience.
- South Beach Bars & Clubs:
- Popular spots like Mac's Club Deuce (a dive bar) and Clevelander South Beach are known for their lively atmospheres and mixed crowds. Both are great places to meet people and have a good time. Clevelander, in particular, has a party vibe and often attracts a younger crowd, perfect for mingling.
- Bars with Happy Hours:
- For a more affordable bar experience, look out for places offering happy hours. Try The Broken Shaker, which has a relaxed vibe and great cocktails at decent prices, or Sweet Liberty in the Sunset Harbour area, which is known for its craft cocktails and lively crowd.
- Hostels and Social Events:
- If you’re staying at a hostel or looking for group events, many hostels in the area, like Freehand Miami, offer group activities or meetups. You can check out local event boards for social gatherings or free meetups.
Dress Code:
Miami Beach has a variety of venues, and the dress codes can vary:
- Casual Bars:
- Casual spots like Mac’s Club Deuce or Sweet Liberty typically don’t have strict dress codes. Shorts, a T-shirt, or a casual button-up would work well.
- High-End Clubs or Lounges:
- If you’re heading to more upscale places like LIV at the Fontainebleau or Story, expect a stricter dress code. For these places, you'll want to wear something more polished, like a nice collared shirt and stylish shoes (no flip-flops or athletic wear). They may have a cover charge or guest list, especially on weekends.
Affordable Options:
While Miami Beach can be pricey, there are definitely places where you can get a good deal.
- Affordable Bars:
- If you’re looking to save money, head to El Patio, a Latin-inspired bar with affordable drinks and a fun crowd. Ball & Chain in Little Havana is another spot with live music and reasonable prices.
- Affordable Eats:
- For affordable food, try La Sandwicherie for fresh sandwiches or The Big Pink for classic comfort food at decent prices. Both places are casual and offer great meals without breaking the bank.
Safety:
As for safety, Miami Beach is generally safe, but like any tourist area, it’s important to stay aware, especially when you're out at night.
- Solo at Night:
- Walking around South Beach at night is usually safe, but stick to well-lit areas and avoid quiet streets. Stick to the main strips like Ocean Drive, Collins Avenue, and Washington Avenue.
- Using Rideshare:
- If you're out late, using rideshare apps like Uber or Lyft is a good idea. It’s also smart to walk with others when possible and avoid wandering around too late alone in less populated areas.
All in all, Miami Beach offers plenty of opportunities for solo travelers to meet new people, enjoy affordable bars, and feel safe. Just be mindful of your surroundings, especially at night. Enjoy your trip!
