Any recommendations for quieter hotels (interior noise)?

I know Miami Beach isn't the quietest destination, but I'm wondering if anyone has a rec for a hotel on the more sturdy/quieter side in regards to upstairs guests, screaming in hallways, door slamming, etc. I can sleep through a war going on outside but I can't stand hearing conversations or footsteps above my room.

Miami Beach is famously lively, and many hotels have thin walls or floors that let hall noise through, so finding a quieter option can be a challenge. However, there are several approaches and hotels that tend to have better soundproofing and more serene environments.

First, consider the type of hotel construction. Concrete buildings typically offer better sound isolation than wood-frame structures. Boutique hotels often have fewer rooms per floor, which also reduces hallway noise and foot traffic above you. Rooms away from elevators, stairs, and busy streets are usually quieter.

Here are some hotel recommendations in Miami Beach that guests have reported as quieter and more insulated from interior noise:

  • The Setai, Miami Beach: Known for its luxurious suites and concrete construction. Guests often note minimal hallway noise and thick walls.
  • 1 Hotel South Beach: A modern property with well-insulated rooms. Floors are concrete, and the layout tends to reduce noise from neighbors.
  • Faena Hotel Miami Beach: Boutique-luxury feel with soundproofed rooms and higher-end construction materials that keep interior noise down.
  • Carillon Miami Wellness Resort: Located in North Beach, away from the South Beach nightlife, it’s quieter overall, and the floors are concrete.
  • The Confidante Miami Beach: Also in North Beach, it has larger rooms with solid walls and quieter surroundings compared to central South Beach.

Additional tips for reducing interior noise:

  • Request a room on a higher floor and away from elevators or stairwells.
  • Avoid rooms directly above or below event spaces, pools, or fitness areas.
  • Call the hotel ahead to specifically request “quiet room” or inquire about construction materials for the floor/ceiling.
  • Consider staying in North Beach or mid-Beach, which are generally quieter than the South Beach party area.

In general, Miami Beach will never be completely silent, but choosing a hotel with concrete construction, fewer rooms per floor, and in a slightly removed location can significantly improve your chances of a peaceful stay without hearing footsteps, doors, or conversations from other guests.
