Anniversary dinner ?

We have the option to eat in Key Largo, Marathon, or key west for the 6th of november Thurs.. Dinner Reservations preferred. for convenience if needed. Where would you go? Love everything from seafood to street tacos. but would like a little special.

Great question—and happy (early) anniversary! Choosing between Key Largo, Marathon, and Key West depends a lot on how far you want to travel, the vibe you’re looking for, and how “special” you want the evening to feel. Here are some thoughtful recommendations plus considerations, and what I personally might lean toward.

Top Restaurant Choices for Anniversary Dinner

  • Key Largo
    • The Fish House & Seafood Market: This is a Keys-classic, very local & laid-back, but still charming. Think fresh-off-the-boat seafood, conch-style cooking, and a relaxed “Old Keys” feel.
    • Buzzards Roost Waterfront Restaurant: Waterfront dining with a more refined menu—steaks + seafood—and a romantic water-side setting.
  • Marathon
    • Plaza Grill: Upscale bistro-style dining, very cozy, great for a special evening. Their menu includes steak, creative seafood, pasta, and a strong wine/cocktail list.
    • Castaway Waterfront Restaurant & Sushi Bar: Stunning water views, fresh seafood, sushi — and a relaxed but elevated Keys feel.
    • Triton Seafood Restaurant: Italian + seafood fusion. If you like seafood and pizza or pasta, this could be a fun, slightly different night out.
  • Key West
    • A&B Lobster House: Very romantic, dockside dining, classic Key West seafood experience — perfect for an anniversary.
    • Louie’s Backyard: A longtime favorite for special occasions. According to trip-advisor-style recommendations, it’s got an amazing vibe, great food, and romance. > *“Can NOT beat Louie’s Backyard! It’s soooooooo good! The food, the wine, the service, the whole vibe is wonderful.”*

Considerations Based on Your Priorities

  • Distance & Travel: Key West is the farthest drive (or requires more time), so if you prefer less travel before dinner, Key Largo or Marathon may be more convenient.
  • Atmosphere:
    • Key Largo’s Fish House gives a very authentic, laid-back Keys seafood feel.
    • Marathon’s Plaza Grill or Castaway offer a balance of sophistication and relaxed island charm.
    • Key West (especially Louie’s or A&B) leans more into romantic, iconic Keys dining — great for making the evening feel really special.
  • Reservations: For an anniversary, I’d strongly recommend making a reservation, especially in Key West or for places like Plaza Grill, which are popular for dinner.
  • Menu Preferences: If you love seafood primarily, The Fish House, Castaway, or A&B are excellent; if you want surf + turf or something more “bistro,” Plaza Grill is a standout; and if you want a bit more variety (seafood + pasta/pizza), Triton is ideal.

My Recommendation

If I were in your shoes and wanted a *little special but not overly formal*, I’d lean toward Plaza Grill in Marathon. It strikes a beautiful balance: upscale yet comfortable, with really thoughtful dishes, a great wine/cocktail list, and a cozy, intimate atmosphere. If I were more in the mood for a “destination anniversary dinner” and didn’t mind a scenic drive, then Louie’s Backyard in Key West or A&B Lobster House would be my pick for sheer romantic charm.
