Lyft or Uber in Seward....?

Hi just wondering if there are any Uber or Lyft drivers available in Seward- specifically in late May (24th)?

(Who would take 2 adults w minimum baggage to Whittier cruise terminal?) Trying to avoid going all the way back to ANC and getting the shuttle (plus its pretty pricey)

Also, if there are, we were thinking of maybe getting an uber/lyft to halfway mark or so and staying overnight somewhere en route rather than another night in Seward- but concerned there may be even less driving options if it is a remote area- somewhere like Trail Lake Lodge - Moose Pass?

Appreciate any feedback/suggestions!

Seward is a small town with limited population, so rideshare services like Uber and Lyft are not as prevalent or reliable as in larger cities. While technically available, finding a driver on a specific date—especially late May, when tourism starts picking up—can be uncertain, and prices may be high due to distance and demand.

Considerations for using Uber or Lyft in Seward:

  • Availability is sporadic. You may need to request a ride well in advance and confirm with the driver beforehand.
  • Most drivers operate locally within Seward, so longer trips to Whittier Cruise Terminal (~60 miles) may be refused or charged a premium.
  • Because of limited options, having a backup plan is strongly recommended.

Alternative options:

  • Private shuttle services: Several companies offer scheduled or chartered rides from Seward to Whittier. They may be more reliable than rideshare for longer trips, though slightly more expensive.
  • Car rental: Renting a car in Seward allows flexibility, especially if you plan to stop overnight at a halfway point like Trail Lake Lodge or Moose Pass. Roads in the area are well-maintained but can be narrow and winding, so cautious driving is recommended.
  • Local taxi services: A few local taxis operate in Seward, but like rideshares, advance booking is essential for longer distances.

If considering splitting the trip with an overnight stay, arranging a rental or private shuttle to your midway point is much more reliable than hoping to find Uber or Lyft drivers in remote areas such as Trail Lake Lodge or Moose Pass. Once in these remote areas, rideshare availability is extremely limited or non-existent, so planning ahead is crucial.
