Entry Hong Kong Exit Guangzhou
Hi, is it possible for me to fly in to Hong Kong(entry), take a train to Guangzhou then fly out from Guangzhou (exit) back to my home country?
Just wanted to confirm this is allowed between Hong Kong and China.
Thanks
Yes, it is generally possible to enter China via Hong Kong and exit from Guangzhou, but there are specific visa and entry requirements to consider. Hong Kong and Mainland China have separate immigration controls, so travelers need to ensure that they comply with both Hong Kong entry rules and Chinese visa regulations.
Here are the key points to keep in mind:
- Hong Kong Entry: Depending on your nationality, you may be eligible for visa-free entry to Hong Kong for a limited period (for example, UK passport holders typically get 90 days). Check the latest Hong Kong immigration rules before traveling.
- Mainland China Visa: To travel from Hong Kong to Guangzhou, you will need a valid Chinese visa unless you qualify for a specific visa-free transit program (such as the 144-hour or 72-hour transit policies in some cities). Ensure your visa allows entry through Hong Kong and exit from Guangzhou.
- Train Travel: High-speed trains operate between Hong Kong (West Kowloon Station) and Guangzhou (Guangzhou South Station). Passengers are required to go through Hong Kong exit and Mainland China entry immigration at West Kowloon Station before boarding.
Additional considerations:
- Ensure that your visa dates cover your intended travel period between Hong Kong and Guangzhou.
- Allow extra time at West Kowloon Station for immigration clearance, especially during peak travel times.
- If your departure flight from Guangzhou is international, arrive at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport at least 3 hours before your flight.
In summary, flying into Hong Kong, taking a train to Guangzhou, and exiting from Guangzhou is allowed, provided you have the correct Chinese visa and comply with immigration procedures at both Hong Kong and Mainland China checkpoints. Always double-check the latest entry requirements, as regulations can change.
