The second day I want to hire a driver and go to Yountville first thing in the morning then head out to a winery, then go to town do some shopping and grab lunch to take to a winery, then possibly hit another winery before dinner in Napa. This is for my daughters 21st bday so I want wineries very scenic and beautiful There will be 4 of us. Please recomend what restraunts and wineries to go to The larger ones with more hype is probably what she's wanting. Instagram photo wineries but with good wine and Charcuteries, I need a plan of what to do first in order to end up back in Sonoma. Thank you
For your two-day stay in Sonoma and a day trip to Yountville and Napa, here’s a detailed itinerary that balances scenic wineries, Instagram-worthy spots, good wine, and charcuterie, while keeping the flow comfortable for a 21st birthday celebration.
Day 1 – Arrival in Sonoma:
- Arrive around 12:30 PM and check into your Sonoma hotel or inn.
- Grab a casual lunch in Sonoma Plaza. Options include Sunflower Caffé for light bites or El Dorado Kitchen for a more upscale but relaxed lunch.
- Spend the afternoon exploring Sonoma Plaza – shops, tasting rooms, or a short winery visit nearby such as Buena Vista Winery (historic and scenic).
- For dinner, consider The Girl & The Fig for a cozy, rustic setting with great French-inspired dishes and local wines.
Day 2 – Yountville and Napa (hire a driver for safety and convenience):
- Start early (~9 AM) and head straight to Yountville to enjoy the charm of the town. Walk through the main street and see boutique shops and famous pastry spots.
- Visit Bouchon Bakery
- First winery stop: Domaine ChandonOpus One (hype and luxury experience – Instagram-worthy, book in advance).
- Head to a scenic winery for charcuterie lunch – V. Sattui is perfect for this as they have a picnic-style option with incredible views and gourmet foods. You can either buy from their deli or pre-arrange a picnic to take to a vineyard nearby.
- Optional second winery stop in Napa: ArtesaCastello di Amorosa (castle vibes, very Instagram-friendly).
- Late afternoon, enjoy some Napa town shopping or stroll.
- Dinner in Napa: Consider OenotriRistorante Allegria
- Drive back to Sonoma in the evening for a restful night.
Tips for a smooth day:
- Hire a driver so you can enjoy tastings without worry; Napa/Sonoma roads are hilly and traffic can be unpredictable.
- Book winery visits in advance, especially the popular ones like Opus One or Castello di Amorosa.
- Start early to maximize light for photos and avoid crowds.
- Carry light layers – mornings in Napa Valley can be cool, afternoons warm.
This itinerary balances scenic, Instagrammable wineries, good wine tasting, and celebratory dining, while keeping travel time manageable and ending back in Sonoma comfortably.
