Breweries for an afternoon
Family of four will be traveling through from Monterey on our way to LA. Will have 2 nights in SB. Was wondering which breweries would be best for an afternoon visit and rest stop. Something kid friendly with outdoor seating if possible.
Santa Barbara has a number of breweries that are great for an afternoon stop, many with outdoor seating and a relaxed vibe suitable for families. While kids cannot sample alcohol, many breweries offer outdoor spaces, snacks, and sometimes games to keep them entertained.
Some kid-friendly breweries with outdoor seating you might enjoy include:
- Figueroa Mountain Brewing Co. – Located a short drive from downtown, they have a spacious outdoor patio. It's family-friendly and often has food trucks on site.
- Santa Barbara Brewing Company – Centrally located downtown with outdoor seating. Offers a lively atmosphere and is easy to combine with a walk around State Street.
- Leadbetter Brewing Co. – Near the waterfront, it has outdoor seating and a relaxed vibe. Good for a short stop and a casual drink while enjoying ocean views.
- Pure Order Brewing – A bit further from downtown, but their tasting room has outdoor seating and they welcome families. Great for a quiet, less crowded experience.
Other tips for visiting breweries with kids:
- Plan your visit around lunch or an early afternoon to avoid evening crowds.
- Check if the brewery has snacks or allows you to bring your own picnic items.
- Consider combining the stop with a nearby park or beach so kids can stretch their legs while adults enjoy a tasting.
Santa Barbara is very walkable in the downtown area, so if you choose breweries like Santa Barbara Brewing Company, you can also explore the surrounding shops, stroll along the waterfront, or grab an ice cream nearby to keep the kids happy.
