Spa hotel in Napa

I am looking for a spa hotel that is in the Napa area that won’t break the bank, but is still nice. I plan to go for a few days in late July.

If you’re planning a relaxing Napa getaway in late July and want a spa hotel that offers a great experience without the very high price tag, there are several solid options that balance comfort, amenities, and value. Napa Valley can be expensive—especially in peak summer—but some properties provide excellent spa services at a more approachable rate compared to luxury resorts like Auberge du Soleil or Meadowood.

Below are some recommended spa hotels that tend to be more budget-friendly while still delivering a quality Napa experience.

  • River Terrace Inn (Napa) – A boutique hotel along the Napa River offering a peaceful setting at a price that’s usually far below the ultra-luxury resorts. While it doesn’t have a full traditional spa on-site, they partner with local therapists to provide in-room spa services. Rooms are modern, and the location is excellent for walking into downtown Napa.
  • Embassy Suites by Hilton Napa Valley – This property is often overlooked, but it’s a great mid-range option. While not a spa resort, it offers spa-style services nearby and is known for spacious rooms, pretty garden areas, and good value in an otherwise pricey region.
  • The Meritage Resort & Spa (South Napa) – Often more affordable than resorts farther up the valley, especially when booked early. It features the Spa Terra, set inside an underground cave, offering a full menu of treatments at a lower rate than many Calistoga spas. It’s a larger resort but still offers good quality for the price.

If you’re willing to stay in nearby Calistoga—which is still part of Napa County—you’ll find some of the best value spa hotels in the region. Calistoga is famous for its geothermal mineral water, mud baths, and relaxed atmosphere, often at a fraction of typical Napa Valley prices.

  • UpValley Inn & Hot Springs (Calistoga) – A comfortable boutique property with access to geothermal mineral pools and a steam room, offering spa-style amenities without luxury-resort pricing.
  • Calistoga Motor Lodge & Spa – A trendy, retro-inspired hotel with a well-rated spa offering mineral water therapies, facials, massages, and aromatherapy. Often one of the best-value spa stays in the valley.
  • Golden Haven Hot Springs – Known for its mud baths, mineral pools, and very reasonable pricing. It’s not fancy, but it offers genuine Calistoga spa experiences at a great value.

Late July is peak Napa travel season, so booking early is important for good rates. Calistoga properties in particular tend to fill up quickly because of their reputation for affordable spa experiences.

Overall, if price is the priority but a relaxing spa experience is still important, Calistoga is your best bet. If you prefer to be closer to downtown Napa’s restaurants and wineries, River Terrace Inn or Meritage offer a good balance of comfort and cost.
