Started the morning at Centennial Park. We walked over to the ferry pier and shopping g area. Drove all over Coronado, as far north as we could go, down Ocean Blvd to Imperial Beach Pier. Loved watching surfers. So amazed at their skills and ability to stay warm!
We took a much needed nap after turning in our 1 day car rental. We had lunch at Village Pizzaria. I had a local amber beer. We had slices, zucchini sticks? Fries! Yum 😋
Dinner was at the Tavern! I loved their cocktails! We had charcuterie board app, wagu tacos, fish and chips. We walked to Coronado Beach to watch the sunset, toured the Del and grabbed pina coladas outside. Perfect evening 🌅
Your second day in Coronado sounds absolutely wonderful—relaxing, scenic, and filled with great food and classic San Diego experiences. Coronado is one of those places where even a simple stroll or sunset can feel special, and your day really captured the charm of the island.
Starting the morning at Centennial Park is such a great choice. The views of downtown San Diego across the bay are some of the best anywhere, and walking over to the ferry landing and shops is a perfect way to ease into the day. Driving the full length of Coronado gives you such a good feel for its peaceful neighborhoods, quiet beaches, and beautiful homes. And heading all the way down Ocean Boulevard toward Imperial Beach is a treat—watching the surfers is endlessly fascinating, and you really get to see how locals embrace the water no matter the temperature.
Your lunch stop at Village Pizzeria fits the Coronado vibe perfectly. Fresh slices, zucchini sticks, fries, and a local amber beer—simple and satisfying comfort food after a morning of exploring. Taking a nap after returning the one-day rental sounds ideal as well; Coronado naturally encourages that relaxed pace.
Dinner at the Tavern was another excellent choice. Their cocktails are famously good, and your meal hit a wide range—charcuterie, wagyu tacos, and classic fish and chips. That’s an excellent mix for sharing and enjoying a relaxed evening.
Ending the night with a walk to Coronado Beach, watching a signature San Diego sunset, then touring the Hotel del Coronado is simply iconic. The Del at night is magical with its lights, architecture, and ocean breezes. Grabbing piña coladas outside as the evening winds down is such a perfect San Diego moment.
Altogether, your day highlights the best of Coronado: relaxed exploration, coastal beauty, great food and drinks, and those unmistakable sunset moments that make the island feel so special.
If you want ideas for what to do next—more beaches, biking options, boat tours, or food—you can absolutely build on this perfect Coronado rhythm for the rest of your stay.
